YOUR SOURCE FOR CUTTING EDGE NEW MUSIC
Phalen and Wills
If you were like me, you spent a lot of time in 2005 rocking out to Diamond Knights. What an awesome LP that was! Sadly the band hasn't released anything since but that doesn't mean that lead singer Morgan Phalen (second from right in above photo) hasn't kept himself busy. Not only has he collaborated with Phenomenal Handclap Band but he was also featured on two tracks off the most recent Justice record.
I recently saw that he posted on his Facebook that he had a soundcloud up under the name Phalen and Wills. After checking it out I found two delightful short but sweet tracks. I hope this isn't all we hear from them. "The Off His Rocker Office Rocker" is a quirky acoustic little song (think Brian Wilson) while "Elijah" is a more experimental rock track with a heavy hitting guitar and a more distorted vocal from Phalen. I like both directions and the diversity. Check them out!
Theater of Delays :: Air "Sexy Boy" Remix
Theater of Delays is back with another excellent remix this time for the classic Air track "Sexy Boy". One of the best Air remixes I've ever heard. Keep it up brother! Stream/download that sucker via his soundcloud below.
Wild Nothing :: Nowhere
I was super excited to see that Wild Nothing, who's 2010 LP Gemini and EP Golden Haze have provided such a large portion of my staple audio enjoyment over the past year or so, are putting out a new single! Furthermore, I was even more excited when hearing that Twin Sister's Andrea Estella does guest vocals on said single! Saw them both at Pitchfork Music Fest last Summer, so hearing that gave me some major nostalgia vibes. The single, titled "Nowhere" is set for official release on February 21, but you can pick up the amazing track below right now for free! Also, for all you fellow Wild Nothing fans, more good news is that they have a new LP in the works that they intend to release sometime this year. So stay tuned!

A great mixture of soul and nu-disco that is pretty irrisistable and will surely get many booties shaking it on the dance floor. The first single from the EP is "It's Never Over" that you can check out below as well as a little video clip for it. If this one doesn't get you pumped for some weekend dancing, I'm not sure what will. Best part is it's a freebie! Grab that sucker!

Our friends over at Low Life Inc are at it again, sending us another gem. This time it's six piece Portland, OR band Adventure Galley. Their track "Weekend Lovers" is mighty impressive. Amazing dark, pop dance track. I get a little Arcade Fire, Joy Division feel to it, but with a synth rock dance vibe that's hard to resist. Love the atmospheric intro. Check it out below and if you like what you hear it's free for the taking. Their debut album 'Anywhere it's Wild' is scheduled for release soon and is produced by Dave Trumfio of Jesus Mary Chain / Built to Spill / Wilco fame.

Isidore :: Life Somewhere Else
Isidore is a collaboration between Jeffrey Cain late of Remy Zero and Church frontman Steve Kilbey. I'm a huge Church fan so as soon as I saw his name I was instantly curious and right away liked what I heard. Their new album 'Life Somewhere Else' is scheduled for release Valentine's Day February 14th, 2012. Now that would make a great Valentine's gift don't you think? They are offering the track "Reappearance" from the album as a free download and it's pretty great. Like a classic sounding Church tune. Beat Culture :: Tokyo Dreamer
Beat Culture is a super young artist that has been making some waves early in the year with his ambient electronic sounds with hip-hop undertones. When I say making waves, I mean it both figuratively and literally, as can be heard in his super chill track "Before You Go". Pretty much all the music on his second full length album Tokyo Dreamer, released just yesterday for free download on his Bandcamp follows suite, and it is very much worth picking up! Check out a few tracks as well as a video from the album below.

The Shins :: Simple Song
Just a couple months ago I was asking someone what ever happened to The Shins, they kinda just disappeared off the map since 2007's Wincing the Night Away. So I was quite pleased to see they are back, and that they have just recently put out a new track, "Simple Song", from an upcoming new album titled Port of Morrow! They haven't really changed the formula much, the track sounds pretty much exactly like the The Shins we know and love from before. Why fix what isn't broken I guess. The album comes out March 20th (my birthday!) and I'm sure we will be hearing a few more tracks leaked before then.
What else is good news is that a new album coming out means they will be touring, which means they will most likely be headlining at most of your summer music festivals! Already see them on the released Coachella line-up! Lets hope that trend continues!

You can stream the entire EP via their bandcamp page and below is their video for "I Am (If You Are)" which is track #5 on the EP.
