YOUR SOURCE FOR CUTTING EDGE NEW MUSIC

Sivu

Got sent the video for "Better Man Than He" by UK artist Sivu and I am mightilly impressed. Not only is the video amazing (they filmed him singing live while under an MRI scanner), but the track is about as lovely as they come. Real subtle indie pop beauty. His new track "Bodies" is equally as amazing with an EP to come in June. I think we may have a star in our hands. Will definitely be keeping an eye out on him. Check out the goods below.

Crystal Fighters :: You and I

Got sent the latest single by Crystal Fighters "You and I" from their upcoming album Cave Rave out May 27th. Lovely track that melds the world of folk and pop pretty seamlessly, similar to bands like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The video for the track is pretty sweet also, featuring great CGI work. Seems the tune is also topping the Hype Machine charts at the moment, sitting pretty at #1. Great job boys! Check out the goods below...

Lovelife :: Dying to Start Again

Got sent this great track "Dying to Start Again" by Brooklyn via London band Lovelife. Lovely indie pop tune that has been stuck on repeat. The track is from their upcoming EP Stateless scheduled for a June 11th release. Can't wait to hear more from them. For now they are offering this catchy tune as a free download, I'd take them up on that offer.

Superhumanoids :: Geri

As of late, I've been hooked on the new Famke Janssen Sci-Fi/Thriller show, Hemlock Grove. The show is ok, but the music up to now has been quite good. Superhumanoids is one of the bands that are played in the program and "Geri" is one of those songs that just stays in your mind as it plays in one of the scenes. The Los Angeles band is composed of three members: Cameron, Sarah, and Max. They are currently touring in the west coast and are worth seeing.

Phèdre :: In Decay

Phèdre is a band I came across in yet another TV show. Ever since hearing "In Decay" its been on non-stop repeat. The band from Monte Carlo, Monaco has a distinctive sound. Their self-titled debut has hints of hip-hop, electroclash, indie dance, and downtempo. I suggest you check out their album. Enjoy!

Owl Eyes :: Closure

Don't know much about Melbourne, Australia artist Owl Eyes except that she is one talented lady. Got sent her video for first single "Closure" off her debut album Nightswim (which is out now) and I was instantly hooked. She's got a lovely dream pop sound that I'm a sucker for. Her looks don't hurt the cause either.

Check out her soundcloud/video for "Closure" below, plus the title track from her album "Nightswim" that they are giving away as a free download in exchange for your email. Good to have you on our Radar.

Snowden :: So Red

Austin band Snowden are getting ready to release their new album No One In Control May 14th on Serpents & Snakes Records. The first taste of the new record is first single "So Red" which is a super lovely. Gorgeous/catchy tune that really gets me excited to hear the rest of the album.

Check out the soundcloud for "So Red" below, as well as a teaser for their upcoming video.

The Magician :: Magic Tape 32 (DJ Mix)

It's hump day people, halfway to the promised land. To help ease the pain thought I'd leave you with The Magician's latest DJ Mix Magic Tape #32. Another stellar mix from this talented fellow with all types of music to help your work day fly on by. Unfortunately there is no track listing that I can see, but what the hell, just enjoy the groove. It's also a free download if you wanna keep that sucker closer to home.

Is Tropical :: Dancing Anymore

London band Is Tropical that we've written about before are getting ready to release new album I'm Leaving May 20th on the amazing Kitsune label. The first taste of the new record is the excellent first single "Dancing Anymore". It's basically about the simple things in life, like you know, how you don't take your partner out dancing anymore. Really lovely indie pop tune and a strong return for the band. The video for the track features a young French boy NOT doing much work cleaning the pool, instead daydream fantasizing, as most 15 year olds do.

Check it, but a little warning, might not wanna play the video at the office, haha.

Phoenix :: Bankrupt!

Loving the new Phoenix album Bankrupt! which is being released in a couple hours. They had the entire album streaming this week on iTunes. If you dug 2009's excellent Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, then this should be right up your alley. Indie pop dance goodness that they do so well, except maybe they raised the bar even more in terms of catchiness (if that's even possible). The beginning of the record in particular is really strong. A few of my fave tracks are "The Real Thing", "SOS in Berlin" and "Trying to be Cool".

Here they're doing the suave "Trying to Be Cool" on SNL earlier this month.

Hurts :: Blind (Frankie Knuckles Remix)

Looking for a cool new house jam? Then be sure to check out legendary producer/DJ Frankie Knuckle's latest remix of UK duo's Hurts track "Blind". Pure dance jam with Knuckles trademark style. We're talking weekend 2am peak dance floor material at your favorite house club here. Check it...

While we're at it, here's Hurts video for the original version of "Blind" as well.

The Black and White Years :: Just Like Old Times

Got sent this lovely tune "Just Like Old Times" by Austin band The Black and White Years who seems accidentally discovered the lead singer's wife could sing after she reluctantly demo'd for a track. Lo and behold she had an amazing voice and is now part of the band. You never know till you try, right. This track is definitely proof of that. Check it out...

Empire of the Sun :: Alive

Sorry for the delay in posting, was a bit hectic last week. Have a ton of emails to go through, but in the meantime wanted to leave you guys with the new single by one of our favorite Australian indie pop acts, Empire of the Sun. They have a new single "Alive" which was just released a few days ago from their upcoming June album Ice on the Dune. Not sure if I'm totally feeling the track yet, but it may grow on me. Plus since their 2008 debut Walking on a Dream was so amazing we have to at least give it a chance and wait to see how good the rest of the album is, right? See what you think...

Viceroy & French Horn Rebellion :: Friday Nights

Our friends over at French Horn Rebellion sent us their latest track "Friday Nights" that they did in collaboration with Viceroy and it is one sweet electro-pop jam! It's basically about a bro-mance where you can hang out with your buddy every day of the week until Friday comes along, then 'maybe' is the best you gonna get, haha.

Check it out below and if you feel inclined to share it on twitter or facebook they are willing to give it to you as a free download, which is exactly what I did. I will definitely be incorporating this tune into my DJ sets. Check it...

Walter Sobcek :: Instants Veloutes (April DJ Mix)

Monday's can be a little tough so thought I'd post this great new April DJ Mix our friends from Paris Walter Sobcek just put out called 'Instants Veloutes' featuring this hilarious cover art. Been jamming this mix all weekend and just like all their mixes it is another disco winner that should help your work day fly on by. Try her on for size below.

You can get the full tracklisting on their soundcloud. Enjoy!

Fingerpaint :: Lunar + Change Yr Mind

Today has been about side projects. Fingerpaint has now become something I check back about weekly to see if any new productions have been released. Tyler Blake, half of the indie nu disco duo Classixx has been creating some extremely unique sounding material for just under a year now. "Lunar" is the first track he recorded under this moniker, and "Change Yr Mind" was just released on a split EP with the Cosmic Kids called Reality On The Horizon released on Throne Of Blood. With only a few mastered tracks currently out there is not much else known about Fingerpaint, though the mysteriousness is certainly consistent with the sound. Cross your fingers that he has some time away from his duties as Classixx this summer, so that we might have an EP soon.

Shadow Sanctuary (Dexter Kane & Sybian) :: Back In The Day EP

There have been a lot of record label side projects popping up in just about every genre lately. Shadow Sanctuary is one that has my attention, it is headed by London based deep house artist Dexter Kane. Shadow Sanctuary could honestly be deemed more of an additional outlet for Kane's material, however there is more exclusivity to it than just that. The productions that fall under the imprint seem to have taken a change from Kane's recognizable sound, in addition to all profits generated from the record sales will be donated to humanitarian charities. Very cool, Dexter. The extremely smooth Michael Jansons Mix to "Looking Back" has been rapidly climbing in the play column on my iTunes. Hopefully there is lots more to come from this shady sanctuary. Check it out.

Bonobo :: The North Borders

Not much is required to describe the 5th full-length release of one of the sages of downtempo electronic music. With productions ranging over a 10 year span, Simon Green better known as UK producer Bonobo has done a masterly job at putting together another set of sounds that are drenched in delicate sci-fi melodies without excluding his natural touch for mending together an array of dark roaming vocals and riffs throughout the album. The North Boarders was released ahead of schedule on March 21st in digital format due to a promotional copy being leaked, it was originally planned for release on April 1, 2013. Without straying far from his acclaimed sound, Bonobo has made an incremental addition to his prolific contribution to electronic music.

Download the single, "Cirrus" as well as a fantastic remix from Kelle for free below via the Soundcloud links.

Red Channels :: 4 AM

Miami dreamwave act Red Channels that we posted about their excellent EP Blinded by the Sound last year here, are back at it. They sent us their new single "4 AM" from their upcoming EP Transmission and I am loving the track! Great downtempo, dreamy tune that has been on repeat. Can't wait to check out the new EP and see what else they have been up to.

For now have a listen to "4 AM" and if you like what you hear, it's free for the taking! Get it!
