Pixies :: Bagboy (New Single/Video)

The other big news today is the release of the new Pixies single/video for "Bagboy". Their first new material in 9 years, which comes on the heels of having just announced the departure of original member Kim Deal. Really loving the track/video! Classic them! Does this mean a new album is in the works? One can only hope.

Check out the goods below, including a link where you can download the track in exchange for your email. Sounds like a deal to me!

NIN :: Came Back Haunted (David Lynch Directed Video)

Got two heavyweights on cue for today's posts. First off is industrial legends NIN. You've probably already heard about their upcoming new album Hesitation Marks out 9/3/13 (check out cover art above), as well as their upcoming 2013 tour. Well today they released their new video for first single "Came Back Haunted". It was directed by legendary art director David Lynch. To be honest it's not the greatest video (minus the moving quickly shots of Trent), but it's all about the song. Great track that's got me excited to hear the new album. Check it...

Olympic Ayres :: Magic

Another great tune sent our way is "Magic" by Sydney duo Olympic Ayres. Super catchy indie dance tune that will fit nicely at a club setting or just blasting out of your car windows as you cruise around town this summer. The single is from their forthcoming release Episode III. Best part is they are offering the tune as a free download, which means you can be blasting this baby right away. Enjoy!

Favored Nations :: Blame Game

Got sent this lovely indie pop tune "Blame Game" by a talented new trio called Favored Nations. Between the three of them they have plenty of experience. Having worked with acts/labels such as Justice, Phenomenal Handclap Band, Greenskeepers, DFA, Empire of the Sun & The Swiss. Needless to say they are an experienced bunch of fellows that should do just fine. Their sound most reminds me of bands like Empire of the Sun. So if you dig Empire chances are you will enjoy Favored Nations as well. They will be releasing their debut 3 track EP July 18th which I have heard and is really nice!

Check out first single "Blame Game" that should get your interests going. We'll be keeping an eye out for this great new band.

2CV :: Bacon / Afrique

Got sent this new double a side single release on On the Fruit Records for "Bacon" and "Afrique" by 2CV, a duo from Paris & Amsterdam that I am absolutely loving! Amazing pair of nu-disco jams that I can't wait to throw into my sets. These are definitely some talented dudes!

You can stream the tracks below via their soundclouds below and the tracks are available for purchase on iTunes or Juno.

Martin Solveig & The Cataracs :: Hey Now ft Kyle (Cosmo Remix)

Our good friend from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Records Cosmo just sent us his latest remix for Martin Solveig's track "Hey Now" ft Kyle and we are loving it! He did a fabulous job! Definitely a dance floor stomper. Best part is he is offering the track as a free download. Which means this baby will be making into my DJ sets pronto. Maybe for you as well?

Check out the goods below....

Little Daylight :: Glitter and Gold

Got to meet NYC Brooklyn band Little Daylight recently when they opened up for Charli XCX at our weekly His & Hers party and I was mightilly impressed! The put on a great show! Their tracks are super catchy. You don't even have to know their music to get into a groove. Saw many people vibing to their music and got that feeling like they would be going far in their career.

Today I got sent a new track from them "Glitter and Gold". Their third single which will be featured on their upcoming EP Tunnel Vision being released August the 6th. Another excellent tune from them. Super catchy indie pop.

Check that out below and keep your eye out for this up and coming band.

The XX :: Together (U&I vs. David Dann Remix)

Got sent this great remix by David Dann vs U&I for The XX track "Together" from the new Great Gatsby movie. Great chill remix for one of the all time best chill bands. I can hear this on repeat all day. Best part is you can download this beaut for free. Gotta love that. Check it out...

Travis :: Where You Stand (Video) + New Album / Tour in 2013

It has been many years since I last heard anything new from Scottish band Travis, 5 years to be exact. I can remember a time when their albums The Man Who (1999) and The Invisible Band (2001) were two of my favorite albums that I would play incessantly.

Well today is a good day, because as I was skimming through our emails I happened to notice their name and the news that they are coming out with a new album Where You Stand on August 19th as well as touring in 2013. That got me real excited, especially after I saw their video for first single "Where You Stand". Gorgeous tune that reminded me why I loved them so much to begin with. Fran Healy still has that amazing voice and the music is as delicate and pretty as ever. Can't wait to check out that new album. I hope it is as amazing as their classic records.

For now check out that new video below and you can check out their US tour dates on their site here.

P.S. As in other Travis videos Fran seems to still get the short end of the stick in this one as well.

Foals :: Bad Habit (Video)

UK's Foals just released their new video for "Bad Habit" from their 2013 album Holy Fire. Great video/track which has their lead singer chasing a naked girl through a desert. You know typical every day stuff, haha, but metaphorically, aren't we all chasing something? Pretty sure that's what they were aiming for.

Check it out below...

The Knocks :: The Feeling (Peter Thomas Remix)

Got sent this remix by Peter Thomas for The Knocks track "The Feeling" that was too good to pass up, especially since it's being offered as a free download. Great dance jam that I can't wait to incorporate into my DJ sets. Thought I'd share the goods. Check it...

Sing Sing My Darling :: Lady

Sing Sing My Darling is not a song, but the name of a band. "Lady" is a song they released recently and it's a pretty chill track. The quartet hails from Toulouse, France and is currently on tour promoting their EP. I seriously recommended checking out their other release "Disco Love" as well.

Futurecop! :: Coming Home (Teen Daze Remix)

Really digging this new remix Teen Daze did for Futurecop's track "Coming Home". Real sublime and lovely. The fact that they are offering the remix as a free download only makes it that much better. Check it out below and if you dig the sounds be sure to save that sucker.

Grizzly Bear :: Live @ The Fillmore Tuesday, June 18th (Tix Giveaway)

Brooklyn indie band Grizzly Bear are gonna be in Miami Beach next Tuesday, June 18th for a show at The Fillmore. Our friends at The Fillmore have asked us if we'd like to do a giveaway for the show, so of course we had to say yes! I know Mike has been a big fan of theirs who has covered them for years. Grizzly Bear is supporting their 2012 album Shields and will be supported by Majical Cloudz.

Check out a couple singles from Shields, "Gun Shy" and "Yet Again", as well as their video for "Gun Shy". If you are a fan of the band and would like to see the show for free, for you plus 1 just comment below with an email where we can reach you. Then on Friday we will randomly pick one of you. Simple as that! Good luck and see you there...

Disclosure :: Settle

An album I've been obsessing over since it was released last week is the debut album Settle from young UK duo/brothers Disclosure. These fellows are just 18 and 21 yrs old and have possibly released one of the early contenders for dance album of the year. The album infuses elements of deep house, edm, acid and holding it all together, a pop sensibility. It reminds me a bit of artists like Basement Jaxx who also cross similar boundaries and have similar styles. Although Disclosure tends to be a little more subduded than Basement Jaxx's over the top style. If these styles are your thing I highly recommend you check out this release, although I warn you, you may become hooked like I have.

Check out a few of their tunes below. First single/video for the infectious "If a Fire Starts to Burn", "F for You" and my favorite track on the album, the ultra smooth house number "Defeated No More" (which unfortunately is only a minute and a half snippet). If you dig these, odds are you will love the rest of the record and should definitely look into it.

Modernage :: The Williams

Hard to believe our good friends Modernage have been rocking the Miami indie scene for 10 years, but that my friends is a fact. I know cause I was there, haha. To commemorate the occasion they have released a beautiful new tune called "The Williams" which we are glad to debut on OTR. One of the loveliest tracks I've ever heard from them.

Check out the track/promo video for it below and congrats on this notable achievement! Many bands would love to say they reached that milestone.

David Lynch & Lykke Li :: I'm Waiting Here

Famous director turned musician, David Lynch, is releasing a follow up to the very good "Crazy Clown Time" this coming July 16. It's called "The Big Dream" and though not released yet, you can sample some of the songs on iTunes here.

This single is a collaboration with Lykke Li, whose ghostly voice caresses this haunting track. It's really the type of music you'd expect Lynch to make.

Gauntlet Hair :: Human Nature (Video)

Don't know much about Chicago duo Gauntlet Hair, but after hearing their new single/video "Human Nature" from their upcoming album Stills out July 16th I am a fan. What an amazing slow grooving jam! Reminds me of the vibe of bands like The Horrors. If dark shoegaze type jams are your thing, this should be right up your alley. Check it...

Poolside :: If We Make It

LA duo Poolside are back with a great new single "If We Make It" from their forthcoming as yet untitled new album as well as being featured on an upcoming Scion compilation. Really great mid-tempo jam. Got to meet these fellows during WMC and they were super nice dudes. Can't wait to hear more from them, especially if this is a sign as to the direction they're heading.

For now check out this great new single which they are offering as a free download. Thank you very much.

Nine Inch Nails :: Return! New Album / Tour in 2013

You know retirement for artists usually don't stick, especially when years go by and the urge returns, as we found out recently when legendary industrial band Nine Inch Nails announced a new album Hesitation Marks and world tour in 2013. Being as I am a long time NIN fan (Pretty Hate Machine is probably one of my all time favorite albums) I was pretty excited about the news. They just released a new single "Came Back Haunted" today which is our first taste of the new record and it is pretty sweet! Classic NIN. Sounds like a mixture of Pretty Hate Machine and With Teeth to me. In other words really, really good. Excited to hear the whole thing when it's released Sept 3rd.

For now check out the new track below and the tour dates here.

Air Zaire :: Reaction

Can we say summer is in full swing yet? This new track "Reaction" by our friend Air Zaire from NYC would suggest it is. Right in time for those summer pool parties, this new jam by him will work perfectly pool side with an ice cold drink in hand. Makes me wanna go do that right now actually. Check out the tune below which he is offering as a free download. Thank you very much sir.

Charli XCX, Little Daylight (+) Live this Saturday, June 8th at His & Hers!

Pretty excited about the Charli XCX show we have coming up this Saturday, June 8th at our weekly party His & Hers at The Garret. First heard about UK's Charli XCX when Aramis would play "You (Ha Ha Ha)" back when we first started His & Hers earlier this year, and every time he did I would be like "who is that?" Amazingly catchy pop tune that I still have not gotten tired of. Since then I have listened to her debut album True Romance and have become a fan. Seems she also wrote Icona Pop's big breakthrough hit "I Love It" which I'm pretty sure you've probably heard on some commercial or TV show at some point in the last year or so. All pretty amazing for a girl all of 20 years young! Don't miss her at this intimate show before she blows up. Next time she comes around it may be at a much bigger venue. In fact I'm pretty sure of that.

Also on the bill for this show is Kitty Pryde and Little Daylight who has this amazing track "Overdose", which is an irrissistable electro pop gem. Can't wait to catch them live as well. Check out some of those tunes/videos below. You can check out the facebook invite for the show here and purchase tix's for the event here for only $15! See ya Saturday!

Hey Champ :: Celebrate

Another of our long time faves Chicago's Hey Champ just released a great new track today called "Celebrate". Slightly different from what we're used to hearing from them, but pretty amazing jam. I love when bands expand on their sound and don't just keep putting out the same track with a different name. This is a perfect example of that. Electronic pop deliciousness, right in time for the summer. Celebrate...

French Horn Rebellion :: Dancing Out (ft Jody Watley & Young Empires)

Our good friends French Horn Rebellion are at it again releasing another summer jam! This one's called "Dancing Out" and it features Young Empires and Jody Watley? I don't know how they managed to pull that one off, but it works perfectly. Check out the goods below and get your summer boogie on.
