YOUR SOURCE FOR CUTTING EDGE NEW MUSIC

TV On The Radio :: Mercy

It wasn't till I heard the first few seconds of the new TV On The Radio single "Mercy" that I realized how much I missed them. This single, their first new music in a couple of years and a preview to their upcoming album, is fire! They say they are excited to get back to work and you can tell. If this track is any indication we are in for a treat with that new album. Taking some time off is often times a great thing when it comes to music. Good to have you fellows back!

Foreigner :: Urgent (Luxxury Edit)

LA artist/producer Baron Von Luxxury which we posted about his excellent disco/dance track "The Last Seduction" back in 2011 here is back. Seems he's working on some dub edits of classic tunes, like this latest one he did for Foreigner's classic 80's track "Urgent". For these edits he's trying to highlight some cool aspect of the track that maybe you didn't notice in the originals. Like the killer bassline on this Foreigner track. Loving the edit, think he did an amazing job! Can't wait to throw this into my DJ sets.

Check out the soundcloud for that below. If you like what you hear he's offering the track as a free download. Can't wait to hear what other classic jams he ends up working on, but for now this will hold us off nicely.

Sailor & I :: Tough Love (M A N I K Summer Skeleton Mix)

I love when friends randomly drop amazing gems on my facebook page. Like this remix by NYC artist M A N I K for Sailor & I's track "Tough Love". As soon as the beat dropped I knew I was gonna love it. Amazing jam that I cannot wait to play out in my DJ sets. Thought I'd spread the love to our fine readers at OTR. Keep those amazing recommends coming, music is best shared you know.

Basement Jaxx :: What a Difference Your Love Makes

Loving the new single "What a Difference Your Love Makes" feat Sam Brookes from London house legends Basement Jaxx. You'd think these fellows would run out of amazing ideas, but so far the answer is thankfully no. One of the catchiest tracks I've ever heard from Basement and a perfect summer anthem to pile up on top of all their other amazing club anthems throughout the years.

Check out the tune below. An EP feat another new track "Mermaid of Salinas", plus remixes for the single is scheduled for release Sept 29th which you can pre-order on iTunes.

Franz Ferdinand :: Right Action

The four lads from Glasgow are at it again. Franz Ferdinand premiered their new track "Right Action" on the Conan O'Brian show last night. The single is off their upcoming album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, which is expected to drop on August 27th.

Still Corners :: Berlin Lovers

Still Corners' third album is a nice gem. I came across their electro-pop tinged track "Berlin Lovers" while listening to an Australian radio station. The duo, which hails from London, recently released, Strange Pleasures and it is definitely worth checking out.

Cayucas :: High School Lover

Cayucas is a band from Santa Monica, California. Their single “High School Lover” is a pretty catchy tune. It reminds me of an 80’s indie sound that was quickly eradicated by the Seattle grunge movement.

I'd advise you guys check out the rest of their album, Big Foot.

Metric :: Live at The Fillmore (Thurs, Aug 1st) Tix Giveaway

Seems Metric are fans of South Florida as they have been here quite a few times in the last few years. This coming Thursday, August 1st they are back in town at one of our favorite live music venues, The Fillmore on Miami Beach. Our friends at The Fillmore have been kind enough to offer us some free tixs to give away for the event and as we are big fans of the band we were happy to oblige! One thing's for sure they put on a hell of a live show!

If you are a fan of the band and would like to enter to win, just comment below telling us why we should pick you and an email where we can reach you at. (Make sure to include your email or we won't pick you!) Then on Monday we will pick a winner. Simple as that. Good luck!

If you don't win and would like to attend the show, tixs are still available for purchase on the Fillmore site here.

Outriders :: Drop It (EP)

Talk about young talent. Outriders is the solo project of 18 year old Mexican producer/DJ Angel Vergara. This month he released his 'Drop It' EP which is basically two tracks "Drop It" and "Fap Me" which are pretty varied and you can check out below. In particular I'm really digging the self titled track "Drop It" which has a classic Daft Punk dance type of vibe.

Check out a preview of the tunes below and if you like what you hear they are both available for purchase on beatport and iTunes. At only 18 this kid shows a lot of promise.

Eats Everything :: The Withywood Walk (Antony Toga Remix)

French producer Antony Toga who sent us his amazing Daft Punk remix for "Technologic" earlier this year here is back. This time he sent us his latest remix for Eats Everything's "The Withywood Walk" and it is another dance floor winner! Bumping dance floor stomper that will fit in nicely into my DJ sets. It's obvious this is one talented fellow.

Check out that remix below and if you like what you hear he's offering the track as a free download. Get to it...

Cut Copy :: Let Me Show You ( New Single / First Listen )

A few lucky Cut Copy fans at this weekend's Pitchfork Music Festival got a special treat, as 120 single sided vinyl copies (40 per day) of the bands new single "Let Me Show You" from their upcoming fourth album were made on the spot. With the persons individual name etched on the record and the sleeves numbered. Pretty sweet huh. Those will definitely be rare/collectible records. One fan has uploaded the recording to youtube for us common folk to hear. Digging the track which has a nice slow groove dance vibe to it.

Check that out below with the music kicking in around the 1:26 mark. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album from one of my favorite/consistent bands of the last decade.

Human League :: Don't You Want Me (Inigo Vontier Version)

Got sent this excellent re-work of Human League's classic 80's tune "Don't You Want Me" by Mexico's Inigo. He re-did everything including the female vocals from scratch. Although I would've liked if he kept more of the lyrics, I think he did a solid job. He calls it a "DJ friendly space disco track". I can agree with that assessment. It will definitely be making into my DJ sets. Maybe for you as well?

He's offering the track as a free download on his soundcloud. Check out the goods below...

Red Hot Chili Peppers :: Californication (Theater of Delays Remix)

One of our favorite remixers Theater of Delays is back with another solid remix. This time it's for Red Hot Chili Peppers classic track "Californication". Real smooth rework. I can picture myself playing this in an early DJ set or at a day time event. Check out the goods below and if you like what you hear he's offering the track as a free download. Gotta love that!

Disclosure :: F For You (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix)

I'm not sure if this latest remix by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs for the so hot right now UK duo Disclosure is out for purchase yet (if any of our readers know, please let us know in the comments section), but one thing's for sure, he did a spectacular job! He turned one of the tracks "F For You" from Disclosure's amazing debut album that has more of an electro-pop feel (ala artists like Mount Sims) into more of a house anthem like most of the rest of the tracks on that album. Check out the soundcloud stream below.

Goldroom :: Verano Mix 2013 (DJ Mix)

Has it been a year already since last verano? Yes it has and that means it's time for another dreamy summer DJ Mix by one of our favorites Goldroom! Just like all this fellows work he once again proves his impeccable music in taste. Loving this mix which will work nicely poolside, in your car or playing in the background while you try to get some work done. Check out the stream below and if you like what you hear you can download this sucker for free! Tracklisting's up on his soundcloud. Enjoy!

Jacuzzi Boys :: Double Vision

Miami band Jacuzzi Boys who I see around town pretty regularly have a great new single "Double Vision" which will be featured on their upcoming ST third album. Digging the track and accompanying video which see's some lovely ladies getting nihilistic on an old man's car. Check those out below...

Ralph Myerz :: Take a Look at the World (feat Annie)

It had been quite awhile since I last heard from Norwegian pop princess Annie. That is until today when I saw her name pop up in our inbox. Seems she has collaborated with another Norwegian Ralph Myerz on his upcoming third album 'Supersonic Pulse' which also features collaborators such as Snoop Dogg & George Clinton.

The first single being released from the album is the Annie collaboration "Take a Look at the World" which also features the amazing Royksopp producing the single. It's a classic sounding Annie dance track with an equally amazing video where you can actually see Annie. Don't know if I ever saw what she looked like before, but that voice is as amazing as ever!

Check out the track/video below, plus a great housey remix of the track by another Norway product Doc L Junior. Be on the lookout for the rest of that Ralph Myerz album 'Supersonic Pulse', which should be seeing the light of day in August or September.

Amtrac :: DJ Set at His & Hers at The Garret Sat (7/20)

Kentucky producer Amtrac that we have covered on OTR several times (check some of those here), is gonna be in Miami next Saturday (7/20) where he will be doing a DJ Set at our weekly party with PopLife, His & Hers at The Garret, upstairs at Grand Central. Excited to hear his set and see what tunes he will be throwing down!

To get you psyched for his set check out a couple new remixes he's put out for Two Door Cinema Club's "Handshake" as well as Wretch 32's "Blackout" feat Shakka. As everything I've heard from him, these are two more solid offerings from this up and comer. Check those out below.

RSVP at epoplife.com/rsvp for free entry to this event before Midnight! Check out the flyer for the event above. Can't wait! See ya there...

Poliça :: Tiff (feat Justin Vernon)

Oh Mondays… someone has to play the villain. However, here is a little track from Poliça. “Tiff” is a sexy and sultry little track from the Minnesota band. The band fuses synth-pop with a bit of R&B with the ending result being a really chill, almost baby-making music that will definitely have you tuned in.

Phoenix :: More "Trying To Be Cool" (Remixes)

Getting ready to watch the fireworks (American readers)? Everyone else in the world, whether your winding down your Thursday or just beginning it, seems as if one could always use a few free Phoenix remixes. Three out of four of these in fact are free and while each remixer is from a different country, they are all excellent. Leed's producer Edwin van Cleef has put together a summer smash, that is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Angeleno, Them Jeans makes you think with his dreamy reconstruction of the track. OTR favorite, Walter Sobcek doesn't let you forget where they hail from with their signature Parisian electro pop bliss, which has been a backbone sound of this site for years. Sydney newcomer MARC D L walked on the funkier disco side of things with his interpretation.

Hope everyone enjoys the tracks, and has a wonderfully safe Fourth of July (Americans), and a great regular day (rest of the world).

Rich Taste :: Faint In Love

Got sent this really great track "Faint In Love" by brand new NYC electronic pop duo Rich Taste. Amazing vocals, sweet synths and a dancey beat are always a recipe for success in my book. Apparently they made this track in one night over 8 glasses of scotch. Can you imagine what other amazing music they are bound to create in the months/years to come over more whiskey?! I for one cannot wait!

For now check out their excellent first single which they are offering as a free download! Double win for us! Enjoy and great to have you guys on our Radar!

Phoenix :: Trying to Be Cool (Video)

Phoenix just released their new video for "Trying to Be Cool" yesterday. They recorded it live as they did a bunch of gags throughout. Kinda like what LCD Soundsystem did for their "Drunk Girls" video. Think they did a great job! Wondering how many takes it took or if it was just one take straight through. Either way glad to see they put some effort into it. Nowadays alot of bands/artists release these really simple videos. So props to them for the creativity.

Check out that video below, plus a soundcloud of the audio feed that you can download for free...

Blondie :: A Rose by Any Name (Feat. Beth Ditto)

Blondie is one of those groups that no matter what they do, you know you'll find yourself giving them a listen. This is especially true when they come out with new material and collaborate with great talent. Well, Blondie just came out with "A Rose by Any Name" featuring the talented Beth Ditto. The song is really catchy and it has a bit of the old Blondie disco sound mixed with a bit of The Strokes-like guitar and a dance beat.

Harry and Co. are supposed to come out with a new album this year called, Ghost of Download. I've heard a couple of tracks and it seems like a top contender. For now check out the first single.

Palma Violets :: Best of Friends

I came across Palma Violets by pure coincidence one late night. While I was listening to a radio station from New Zealand, I heard half of "Best of Friends". The track reminded me of the early 2000's indie rock / dance punk bands that had come out. The track is fun and definitely should be played over a loud system. Their debut album, 180, came out earlier this year and should definitely be given a listen to.
