Mogwai :: Rave Tapes
Scottish experimental electronic band Mogwai are getting ready to release new album 'Rave Tapes'. It will be their 8th studio album in their 18 year career and will be released January 21st 2014 on SubPop. The first single they are releasing from the record is called "Remurdered" and I am digging the sound! I was never a huge fan of Mogwai as they were always too lo-fi for my taste, but this first track definitely has a darker edge to it than anything I've heard from them. Got me psyched to hear the rest of the record.
Check out the soundcloud for "Remurdered", as well as the tracklisting for 'Rave Tapes' below.

Pr0files :: Call Yourself a Lover
Really digging this chill electro-pop tune "Call Yourself a Lover" sent our way by new LA duo Pr0files, who are also a part of Baby Monster. I can hear this track over and over. Those sultry female vocals are really smooth. Seems the track has already reached #18 on Hype Machine, and I can see why. Their upcoming debut album will be called 'Jurrassic Technologie'. Be on the lookout for that. In the meantime this free tune should hold us up nicely. Welcome.
People From Venus :: Television
Our good friends People From Venus who made the trek from Miami to LA a while ago, sent us their latest track/video for "Television". The track according to them is an art piece more than a pop song using only one chord, that being "C". Here's what they had to say about the track, "The drums represent heart beats and what the world does to us and the synths are like Instagram and Facebook, where everything is perfect and pretty". The track reminds me of a minimal Radiohead or Lali Puna track. Really miss these fellows. If you guys live in LA be sure to support these super talented gentlemen, and be sure to say hi for us.
David Bowie :: Love is Lost (Hello Steve Reich Mix by James Murphy)
Sorry been away for so long, but was super busy this week studying for my real estate state exam. Mission accomplished, I passed! Now I can get back to more regular posting...
Heard this amazing remix this week for David Bowie's track "Love is Lost" by James Murphy. I got to see Mr Murphy last Saturday in a Q & A couch session at Bardot where I got to spin as part of the inaugural III Points Wynwood Festival that we posted about. Needless to say he is one witty fellow. It was so good! A pleasure to get to see him talk at such an intimate setting.
Anyways this remix he just released for the thin white duke as part of a deluxe 'The Next Day Extra' being released November 5th is other worldly, so amazing! No words can describe the epicness of this 10 min plus jam. Seems the embedding option on the soundcloud is disabled, but you can check out the track here. Highly recommended. I predict you will pressing play many times on this one.
