Long Beach City Kids :: Takin' Over

Ran into this original jam the other day by Long Beach City Kids called "Takin' Over". Another happy go lucky tune that will help you forget about the crumby weather we are having today in the MIA. Great soulful house track which is being offered as a free download. I'd grab that sucker if I was you. Enjoy & have a great weekend!

Ten Walls :: Walking With Elephants (Colour Vision Re-Imagination)

I'm gonna pretend that the weather is not super London here today in Miami. Not cloudy, rainy and breezy, and instead pretend it is sunny, warm and pretty. Like the vibe that I get from this awesome remix by Colour Vision for Ten Walls track "Walking With Elephants". He turns the tune into a full on tropical steel drum jam. Makes me wanna hop on a cruise for the weekend and head out to a caribbean island somewhere.

Check that out below and if you like what you hear it he is offering it as a free download. Score!

Brika :: Gold

Miami singer Brika that we first posted about her excellent track "Expectations" here, is back with another solid track "Gold". This is her fourth single from her upcoming debut album 'Voice Memos', which will be released November 25th. She's been getting tons of blog love and deservedly so. The girl's got talent. I seriously see her becoming a pretty huge pop star in the not too distant future. So glad she's from Miami. Make us proud Brika! Check out the jam below...

Shakka :: When Will I See You Again (Amtrac Remix)

Amtrac who we've posted about many times before is back with another solid remix. His latest rework for Shakka's "When Will I See You Again" is exquisite and sublime. Real nice down-tempo re-interpretation that is just smooth as hell. Best part is he is offering the track as a free download in exchange for a Facebook like. What's not to like? Check that out below...

Lorde :: Team (Autograf Remix)

Wanted to leave you with a free remix for the weekend and I think I've found the perfect one. This remix by Chicago's Autograf for Lorde's track "Team" is so lovely. Super chill down-tempo re-work that melts in your ears. Best part it's a free download in exchange for a couple follows. Well worth the price of admission. Enjoy & have a great weekend!

Bear Hands :: Agora (Com Truise Remix)

We love Com Truise, mainly cause of his deep love for 80's sounds and synths like we have at OTR. Check out this excellent remix he did for Brooklyn band Bear Hands latest track "Agora". Real dark and slinky 80's sounding = delicioso! Check it...

The 2 Bears :: The Night is Young

The Hot Chip boys definitely keep busy during their down time. Posted about their new side project The New Build the other day here. This week their original side project The 2 Bears releases new album 'The Night Is Young'. Scoped out all the new tracks which are streaming on their soundcloud am I am digging the sounds! How could we not? These are some talented fellows!

Check out a couple of my early favorites. "Get Out", "Modern Family", plus their video for "Not This Time" below, but really they are all excellent! If you like what you hear the album is available for purchase on iTunes or Amazon

P.S. Does anyone else think their album art work looks like Radiohead's 'Kid A' logo?

Purse Candy :: Bar Fight

Talk about smooth... Check out this amazing jam "Bar Fight" (complete with a sax solo) sent our way by Portland's Purse Candy. It is from their upcoming debut album 'Visions of a Healed Kingdom' which comes out October 28th. I can put this track on a loop and play it over and over, in fact I've been doing just that. Can't wait to play this out in my DJ sets and check out the rest of their album. For now this track will hold us off nicely.

Check out "Bar Fight" via their soundcloud below, and if you like what you hear you can grab the mp3 on their bandcamp as a pay what you like option. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

The Hongs :: The Sounds / Ms Understandings

Our good friends in Miami indie/electro-pop band The Hongs just released a double sided single featuring two new tracks. The a side is "The Sounds" and the b side is "Ms Understandings". Digging them both, but particularly loving the a side "The Sounds". Such an amazing track! Possibly their best yet, and they have some incredible songs in their repertoire. These guys consistently put out great music and amazing live shows. They never cease to amaze me when I catch them. It's a wonder they are not a huge national act by now. Soon enough I am sure.

Speaking of live performances, The Hongs are set for a busy weekend starting Tonight (10/9) when they will be playing at the beautiful historic renovated venue Ball & Chain. Then Friday (10/10) at Kill Your Idol on South Beach, and finally Sunday (10/12) as part of the III Points Festival at 10:15PM. I recommend you catch them at any or all of these events if you are in the South Florida area. You will not be disappointed.

P.S. Smurphio from Afrobeta and Aaron Johnston from Brazilian Girls who are part of the band will be in town and performing with them for all the shows this weekend! Extra psyched points!

Lenny Kravitz :: Strut

Recently I got to see a private show Lenny Kravitz did at the Ice Palace in Miami (where I believe he also resides) to promote his new album 'Strut', and I have to say the dude's still got it! He's got this rock star magnetism that's hard to ignore. In a world where there aren't too many rock stars left he certainly is one of them. It was a short set of maybe 6 or 7 tracks with a mixture of some of the new album tracks like "Strut", "Dirty White Boots" and "The Chamber" along with some of his classic tracks like his 90's rock anthem "Are You Gonna Go My Way", which he used to end his set with a bang! One odd thing they did at the event (so I guess there would be no leaked pics or videos) was make everyone leave their phones in their car. This made me realize how dependent we are on our phones. While we were in line I kept wanting to reach for my phone (which I didn't have) to kill the time. It was torture I tell you!

Check out a little promo video, plus his video for his new single "The Chamber" below, and a link to an interview/live performance from that night.

Eons :: Heat of the Night

Our good friends Miami electronic duo Eons which we have posted about several times before here have been hard at work the last few months and today they released what is possibly their best track yet titled "Heat of the Night". Great track which has their classic 80's Miami synth style that we're so fond of. Check out the tune below and if you are in the South Florida area this weekend they will be performing Saturday (10/11) at 4 PM at the Gibson Showroom in the Miami Design District. Be sure and support these super nice fellows and tell them you heard them on OTR!

Dirty South :: Walking Alone (Sounds of Ottinger Remix)

Got sent this sweet remix of Dirty South's track "Walking Alone" by 23 year old Stockholm, Sweden remixer Sounds of Ottinger. If only I was this talented at 23. Great down-tempo remix that I can hear over and over. Check out more from this up and comer on his soundcloud. Keep up the good work!

New Build :: Look in Vain

Over the weekend Hot Chip posted a video for new side project New Build and their new single "Look in Vain". Blew my mind! Amazing track! It is from their upcoming album 'Pour it On' being released October 20th. Love when you get a surprise like that, especially when the album is around the corner. Plus since you know it's coming from the Hot Chips folks you know it's gonna be top notch. Cannot wait for that release.

Check out the new single/video, and get pumped! Happy Monday!

Soko :: Love Letter

Photo Credit :: Ward + Kweskin

It is incredible how much music is out there and how much stuff falls through the cracks, even when you are a die hard music fans like we are at OTR. Last night as I was chatting with my buddy Steve from Pure Honey (who does a fabulous job spreading the gospel of good music for many years by the way), started talking to me about this artist that he loves called Soko. Apparently she's been around for many years (2007) and is also an actress. She is getting ready to release her sophomore album and is on tour now opening for Foster the People. Who we get to see here in Miami Beach at the Fillmore on Thursday, October the 16th.

He showed me her new single "Love Letter" and it is pretty amazing! According to Steve it is a lot more synthy, dark and reverby than her previous album, but that happens to be many of the things I love. Great new single that got me really interested in checking out her show and that new album when it's released.

Check out that excellent new single "Love Letter" below which Pure Honey is offering as a free download (along with many other great stuff every month). Plus a real cool artsy lyric video they did for it.

P.S. If you like the track and wanna learn more about her, be sure to check out this great interview Pure Honey did with her here.
