Ready for a 4th of July Party??? Well 3rd actually...

Thursday, July the 3rd APT & The Colonel in Association with Love/Hate Present our Independence Day Jam!! NYC Rocks Miami Beach!!! We're gonna be flying in Prince Language (NYC) along with Shaka 23 (NYC) for a Big Ass Dance Party along with APT Resident's Jonathan, Josh and Your's Truly/Ray Milian. There's no Work or School Friday for 4th of July and an Open Bar from 10 to 11:30, so it's gonna get Crazy!!!

To help wet your appetites here are some Prince Language Remixes. Most recently he did a Great Dub Mix for DFA's Juan MacLean Happy House track. Here's that plus a great Remix he did for the Stateless track Prism #1 & NYC Beat by Armand Van Helden. There's also a cool Joakim Lonely Hearts Remix and a Remix of the Rapture's Get Myself Into It on his MySpace player.

Don't have any MP3's from Shaka 23, but not only does she have the looks she can mix too! She's gonna be spinning Saturday @ RokBar but you can catch her here first! Check out her MySpace page for press, pics and mixes from her. Can't wait!

See you there!

Bullet Park

Miami based electronic band 'The Waterford Landing' have just released 'Bullet Park'. This EP is their follow-up to their excellent self titled debut album which they released a couple years ago. I featured 'Skylark' a dark/synthy dance track from their debut on a PopLife Compilation CD in 2005. They also won Best Electronic Act in 2006 by the Miami New Times in it's popular yearly 'Best of Miami' Issue. Not too shabby for these local musicians who have been at the game, albeit with different projects for awhile.

Their first album was more of a New Order/classic electronic sounding affair. This new 5 Song Bullet Park EP sees them experimenting a bit more and trying out new things. Some songs are more pop oriented 'Folksong #1', 'Theme from Through the Night', some more experimental 'GetBent', 'Bullet Park'. One thing's for sure they're definitely growing as a band and trying to push the envelope, which is what every artist should strive for.

Great comic book style artwork by Dan Goldman as well.

Go to their website at www.thewaterfordlanding.com or their myspace link above for more.

My favorite track so far is the intrumental opening track 'Theme from Through the Night' and the self titled closer Bullet Park. I'm only gonna put these on YouSendIt, so they'll be up for a week or so. Get'em while they're hot!

You can buy their EP & album online at CD Baby.

Here's the sleek sounding Skylark from their debut album.

Blak Swan

Our homeboy Danny Ashe of Marqui Adora / Lunabelle fame, as well as being a long time popular Miami Indie DJ (Off the Radar/Chocolate Sundays) has started a new electro-pop side-project through his alter ego Jules Vega called Blak Swan.

He's released two tracks so far 'A Perfect Day' and 'This Isn't It'. Heard he's gonna be adding female vocals to 'This Isn't It' to make it a male/female duet. Should make that track even better, it's already my favorite. If you enjoy these go to his myspace page at myspace.com/blakswanmusic and add yourself on as a friend to keep abreast on his new releases.

Here's also a great dance jam Marqui Adora had in 2005 called 'Empty'. Used to play it out all the time, still holds up pretty well I think.

TONIGHT :: APT 407 @ Abraxas Lounge (South Beach)

APT 407 @ Abraxas Lounge

So tonight is the start of a new party in Miami (technically South Beach). Laid back vibe, close to other Thursday hot spots (Money Shot @ Love/Hate, The Room). Perfect as a "jump off point "or a "fall back to" place.

Abraxas is an amazingly beer and wine spot with hundreds of selections in a cozy environment reminiscent of spots like The Room, except bigger. We think you guys are gonna love it! Come out to our Opening Night and judge for yourselves. We think you'll love this hidden gem as much as we do!

Homegrown...

Here are OTR we have a slight affection for Marqui Adora (website). It is not because their lead singer happens to be Danny Ashe (one of the musical selectors for the party) but their music is damn good! Good enough even that Nissan picked up their last single for one of their commercials. So what have the boys been up to lately?

Marqui Adora released their EP Don't Panic on July 8th. It's a 3 song EP with two new tacks and a reworking of Empty (the track that appeared on the commercial and PopLife's 6 Year Anniversary Compilation).

The band has not stopped there. A video for this new version of Empty will be out in a few weeks. AND two new singles are going to be released in the next couple of months.

One of the most interesting things that Marqui Adora does is their podcasts. They post a song and the following day, discuss it from its inspiration to writing, recording and performing it.

Check out the podcast here: Marqui Adora Podcast. From the band:

"We have a new feature on our podcast in which we put up one song and the following day we do another podcast talking about the writing and recording of that track. We are doing the first EP right now which should be done by friday... then we do Don't Panic and then it will be roughly every 2 weeks showcasing a new song each time."
