YOUR SOURCE FOR CUTTING EDGE NEW MUSIC

La Roux

La Roux (meaning "red-haired one" in French) is the synth-pop project of singer Elly Jackson and keyboardist/producer Ben Langmaid. Before they collaborated, Jackson grew up listening to folk legend Nick Drake and drew inspiration from his sound. This was the foundation for her early music.

Jackson and Langmaid originally called their project "Automan" and recorded mostly acoustic songs. They decided to scrap that name and sound for the shimmering pop of acts like David Bowie, Prince and The Knife.

Their debut single, Quicksand, was released on the Kitsune label in the fall of 2008. It's a sleek, sexy electro-pop song with a catchy chorus and grooving synth stylings. They just released another single, In For The Kill, and plan on releasing a full length album some time this year so stay tuned. Until then, here is In For The Kill and the video for Quicksand.
