Schlock! :: Star Whores

Italian producer Schlock! that we posted about previously here sent us news of his New EP 'Star Whores' consisting of remixes/bootlegs that he's done over the last couple of years. A mighty fine collection that shows his range. Love his style, it's subtle and beautiful electronic dance music right along the lines of the stuff we post on OTR.  Think you guys are gonna dig it. Best part is all the remixes are available as Free Download's via his bandcamp page. Can't complain about that!

Here are a couple of my favorites Early to Bed's "Weathervane" remix and Logan Lynn's "Burning Your Glory" remix, track 1 and 2 respectively off the new EP along with a video he put together for the "Weathervane" remix. Keep up the great work sir!

Streetlab

Our NYC friends Streetlab which we wrote about in a Mailbag post way back in 08' here have been busy bee's this year. First releasing their debut album of original material titled "Auto. Spkr." on iTunes and now they're getting ready to release Vol #2 of their famous bootleg remix series.

The first promotional track their releasing for the bootleg series is Peter Gabriel's 80's classic "Sledgehammer". As all the stuff I hear from this duo it's a solid affair and always dance floor friendly. They also sent along an original track from their debut album called "Take Care" feat vocals from their go to girl Noelle. Pretty sweet electro pop number! These guys definitely have an ear for good music. You can preview the rest of the album on their site here.

In addition we also got sent via a separate email a Teen Remix for Streetlab's track "Rat Racer" so I figured I'd post that on here as well. The original is more electro-pop, but this remix is catered more for the clubs with grooving/bumping beats. Should work nicely there.

Cosmo Black

Australian trio Cosmo Black are getting ready to release their first original material in June. In the meantime they've gotten a little restless and put together a series of bootleg remixes they've sent our way including their latest "Cosmic Jive (Weren't No DJ)" featuring vocals from Spiders From Mars era David Bowie. Love the remix! Very smooth and chill remix, plus I'm pretty much a sucker for David Bowie's voice. Nice choice.

In addition to their latest they've also previously put together bootleg remixes for Rolling Stones "Waiting on a Friend" and PNAU's "With You Forever". Here are those for your listening/downloading pleasure...

Christian TV

Christian TV is an artist from Detroit that sent me us a couple amazing remixes he did for Mike Snow's 'Animal' and Xx's 'Infinity' the other week. This past week-end I played out the 'Animal' remix Saturday at the Vagabond and right away I had two people coming up to me paper and pen in hand asking, 'Who did that remix??' Thought it was kinda funny as they came back to back, but it told me right away I need to post these babies up pronto.

The Mike Snow remix has a great dub-step beat, so if you like dub-step you're gonna love this! Even if you don't like dub-step you'll probably still dig this. He did a great job with it and the vocals are crisp and clear. The Xx bootleg is a bit more of a laid back electronic remix with a bumping chorus. I'm really impressed with both remixes.

As I was looking at his myspace for a pic to post I noticed he had some great original tracks on his player as well as a hot video for one of his originals 'When She Turns 18' that's pretty ace! Seems this kid's well on his way.

Classic(s) Remixes

Wow, that last Radiohead post is still warm and now I see that Ratatat is also releasing a free hip hop EP. However, the details are a little different. Instead of a hip hop producer remixing the rock band, it is the rock band performing the remixes of hip hop classics.

They DJ'ed my friends party at the Darkroom in NY a couple of years ago and pretty much played hip hop the entire night (you could divide the hipsters into two groups, either they were breaking it down on the floor or taking their vodka cranberries and going outside for a smoke) . Anyways, after these remix volumes I guess you can say the guys like their hip hop. Glad to see their set list has increased since I saw them DJ. They were playing some extremely played out (by Miami standards?) cuts like It Takes Two and I swear I heard Ice Ice Baby.

Music for Rainy Days

After dealing with these crazy rains in Miami the past couple of days (and today does not look even better), this album cannot be any more apropos. Seriously, I'm making a playlist and putting the entire thing on repeat. All day.

Amplive has finally reached an agreement with Radiohead and all other parties involved and Rainydayz has finally reached the ears of the public! Add this to the list of Reasons Why Radiohead Is Awesome (dang it, need to get more paper).

The project is the work of Oakland producer Amplive and is a remix project taking Radiohead's In Rainbows and some incredibly talented MC's (Too $hort, Del the Funky Homosapien, members of Jurassic 5, etc...) and creating an incredible interpretation of the British band's latest release.
