Brika :: Expectations

Got sent this really great track/video "Expectations" for Miami songstress Brika. We love when great music gets sent our way, but when it's from Miami it put's an extra little smile on our face. Beside's talent Brika is mighty lovely as well.

Check out her wobbly slow burner "Expectations", plus another totally different sounding, (but equally as good) island sounding "Mumbai". Keep up the great work Brika! You are now officially on our Radar.

Henri Horrible

Miami by way of Paris singer/songwriter Henri Horrible (aka Henri Lamaire) that I worked with at Vagabond for a while has been hidden away for a bit working on his music. The other day he sent me his first track "Damaged Goods" that you can listen to below. It has an upbeat 80's pop vibe to it and his voice is pretty unique. He's already played a few gigs around town including Electric Pickle and Kill Your Idol. You can hear another of his tracks "Dancing with the Dead" on his soundcloud.

Sam Roberts Band

Montreal singer/songwriter Sam Roberts & his band release 4th album 'Collider' next Tuesday, May 10th. They sent along the record which features a pretty duet "Longitude" with Land of Talk's Elizabeth Powell that they are giving away as a free download. Digging it and the rest of the album which was recorded in Chicago. I had never heard of him before, but I'm digging this. He has some nice indie swagger and a lot of heart and soul that comes through in the music. Some early faves include "Sang Froid", "No Arrows", "Streets of Heaven" and "Longitude". Here's "Longitude" for you to listen to/download. If you dig this be sure to check out the rest of that album.

RickoLus

RickoLus is a multi-instrumental solo artist from Jacksonville, FL. His reps contacted us recently about his new album 'Youngster' which was just released yesterday July the 27th on the Circle Into Square label. They sent along this awesome video for his track "Photograghs" that is pretty bad ass and quickly caught my attention! Great creative video mixing animation, old photos of his and live video footage. In addition they sent along two tracks from the album "Kid" and album opener "No Future". Digging them all, particularly "No Future" and "Photographs".

Check out the goods, if you like what you hear you can get the album on Amazon or other online retailers. Buy it on Circle Into Square's site and you get bonus tracks as well (16 total) for only $9. Pretty sweet deal!

Harper Simon

Harper Simon is a singer/songwriter and also son of the great Paul Simon. Didn't know that at first when I was gonna comment that his voice/music sounded similar to Paul's, even has the same last name. Thank god I saw a video on his myspace of him performing on the David Letterman Show were Dave mentions he's Pauls son. Thanks Dave for coming through and not making me look like a dummy.

Anyways Harper released his self titled album and if folk/singer songwriters are your thing you're gonna love him! I previewed a bunch of his tracks on his player and I couldn't find a weak one in the bunch. Guess with those genes it's hard to go wrong. He just released a new video for his track  "Wishes and Stars" which his reps sent our way and it's great! Just like a mini movie. Very well done. His album is available now on iTunes, Amazon, etc if you care to investigate further/buy.
