BayRan :: Taps (Premiere)
We are happy to be premiering the new single "Taps" by Miami electronic artist BayRan. It's a great looping instrumental electronic track that we are digging!
We asked BayRan what this track is all about, and here is what he had to say ::
"Taps" is about the hypnotic redundancy that occurs at various points throughout our lives. By using short repetitions, I wanted to create a feeling that doesn’t necessarily evolve or change as expected. It was challenging to commit to certain elements, but I felt that there is a lack of self reflection and ambiguity in modern music. It might not be easily digested, but I really tried to instill a sense of anxiety and entranse the listener using traditional elements of songwriting in unconventional ways"
With no further ado check out that excellent new track "Taps" which he is giving away as a free download for OTR readers! Yes! Best grab that quick before he changes his mind.
The New Division :: Precision EP
The New Division who we've posted about before have a new EP out called Precision. I was listening to it today at work and I loved it, it's a delicious piece of synthwave heaven.
Check out the soundcloud/official video for EP opener "Vicious" below. If you dig that I suggest you check out the rest of that EP, good stuff! You can sample/buy the EP on their bandcamp or on iTunes.
Monterrey :: Neon
Miami artist Monterrey is getting ready to release his debut 2 track EP entitled Neon today (9/25) and it is smoking! Some amazing synthwave sounds which I can easily picture being played on a show like Stranger Things or the movie Drive, particularly the tilte track "Neon". All you retrowave lovers like myself are gonna love it!
Check out "Neon" and "Round and Round" below. You can also check out his tunes on spotify or purchase them on iTunes or bandcamp.
Happy Sunday!!
Paradis :: Toi Et Moi (Lifelike Remix)

It had been a minute since I heard something new from one of our old favorite's Lifelike. That is until I ran into this spectacular new remix he did for Paradis' "Toi Et Moi". Jesus Christ it is good! Full on 80's synthwave dancefloor deliciousness. I wanna be at a club playing this peak time on a Saturday night. Is that too much to ask?
Check out the goodness...
BONUS MATERIAL :: In addition to the Lifelike remix I spotted the official video for the original track "Toi Et Moi" by Paradis and it is phenomenal as well! More subdued/mid-tempo than the remix, but really lovely as well. Gonna have to look into these fellows. Check that out below.
Ladyhawke :: Wild Things
It had been awhile since I heard new music from New Zealand's Ladyhawke, an old time favorite of mine that I used to play out quite a bit in my DJ sets. Today I saw her new video for new single "Wild Things" and it reminded me how much I missed her brand of 80's inspired synthpop. Seems her new album Wild Things just came out last month and as I type this I am listening to it. So far, so good! Real polished record.
Check out her colorful roller rink video for "Wild Things" below, plus a couple additional tracks from her new album "A Love Song" and "Sweet Fascination". If you dig these and wanna grab the album, it's available on iTunes.
Heartracer :: Dream Girl
Got sent this really great track "Dream Girl" by Richmond, Virginia brother duo Heartracer. I am told they are obsessed with 80's culture/music, kinda like we are at OTR and it shows on this splendid subdued synthpop single. I will be pressing play on this one many, many times. You have been pre-warned, you may become addicted. Press play at your own peril.
If you like what you hear you can purchase the track on iTunes.
Timecop1983 :: Lovers ft Seawaves
One of my favorites Timecop1983 released a new single "Lovers" ft Seawaves. It is from their upcoming EP of the same name being released July the 22nd which you can pre-order on their bandcamp.
This is some seriously beautiful stuff! A gorgeously contructed retrowave track featuring exquisite vocal work by Seawaves. Never heard of Seawaves before, but I sure hope to be hearing alot more from them in the very near future. This first taste of the new EP is too good, the rest of that EP can't possibly live up to the bar set by this amazing track, can it?! We shall see, but for now I will fully enjoy this one. Thank you Timecop1983 for releasing beautiful music like this into our world.
Love OTR
BONUS TIME :: While I was finding Seawaves links I ran into this great cover they did of U2's classic "With or Without You". Thought I'd post that up here as well. Enjoy!
Manzur
One half of the totally awesome Futurecop! have a new musical project called Manzur. He sent along some of the new tunes and I am digging it! It has a very chill, instrumental retrowave sound, which is about right as he says "the music is influenced by film scores".
Check out a couple tracks "Kingdoms" and "Redemption" below which he is offering as free downloads, plus the video for "Kingdoms" made up of movie clips he likes. Scope out more on his soundcloud.
Timecop 1983 :: My First Crush (Video)
One of my favorite tracks from the latest Timecop 1983 album Reflections "My First Crush" ft Trevor Something just got the video treatment. Really glad they picked this one, cause it's such an amazing track! I can hear this track over and over and I pretty much have, haha. It's dripping in 80's synths and nostalgia, while the lyrics and vocals by the amazing Trevor Something take you back to those first crush days. Pure heavenly bliss from the very first beat.
Check out the soundcloud/video for it below, and if you haven't already scored this album I suggest you do so, especially if you are a synth lover.
Trevor Something :: Summer Love (Official Video)
One of our favorite summer jams Trevor Something's "Summer Love" got the video treatment last week. We love the song so much, we couldn't resist NOT posting it.
Check out the vid below, which (spoiler alert) has an unexpected ending.
RetroWave :: Miami Summer Playlist

Here's a little RetroWave playlist we put together with some of the tracks we've been jamming to obsessively this summer. Thought we'd put it together on soundcloud so you can jam to it at work/home/parties as well ;) Not all the tracks are new, it's a mixture of old and new jams, but we think they fit together nicely. If you dig it be sure to like/share it with your friends. Love OTR.
Trevor Something :: Do It Again
One of my favorite singers in the whole RetroWave genre is Trevor Something, who I just found out happens to live in Miami! Our own hometown. How amazing is that?! Anyways he just put out another excellent single called "Do It Again" and it is another exquisite jam! This guy can do no wrong.
Check out the tune below and if you like what you hear he is offering the track as a pay what you like option on bandcamp. I'd grab that pronto and check out more of his stuff there. He's excellent!
As a bonus here's another of my favorite tracks from him "Summer Love". Sooo good! Play this tons. Hopefully we'll have a video for this out soon. Heard it might be in the works.
Timecop1983 :: Reflections + Journeys
Apparently there's this whole genre of music called RetroWave or SynthWave that I didn't know about. It's basically centers around 80's inspired, music, cartoons, movies, culture, synths, video games and more. Heavily soaked in 80's nostalgia it can go from heavy to light, instrumental to having vocals, and I am totally obsessed! Dig them all. Of course this is the sound I've always loved and been playing/posting about for years such as : Anoraak, College, Kavinsky. Just didn't know there was a genre for it or that the rabbit hole went so deep. Been basically binging on it the last few weeks trying to soak in as much as I can.
There's this really cool label called NewRetroWave that specializes in this sound and is a big resource for me at the moment, particularly their youtube channel, which has tons of albums you can go through. One of my early favorites is Timecop1983 who hails from the Netherlands and just released new album 'Reflections' which is quite good. I also dig an earlier album called 'Journeys' that is super dreamy amazingness. I highly recommend you check out those two albums and tons more stuff that he has up on his soundcloud.
Here's a few of my favorites from Timecop1983 to wet your palette...
