Boy Harsher :: Hard Beat

Big fan of darkwave synthpop band Boy Harsher for many years, play them out in my DJ Gigs all the time. Read the other day they are getting ready to release their major label debut album Get Mean on Atlantic Records September the 18th. The first taste from the new album 'Hard Beat' is classic them. Super dark and dancey synthpop deliciousness.

Check that out below then set a timer for September the 18th. Tick, tock...

Ladytron :: Paradises

Ladytron a band we've championed since the Electroclash days of the early 2000's have a new album 'Paradises' set for release March the 20th. Been digging all the tracks I've heard from it so far, especially "I See Red" which has that classic sound of theirs.

Check out the video for that below, plus their latest song/video released last week "Caught in the Blink of an Eye"

Paradis :: Toi Et Moi (Lifelike Remix)

It had been a minute since I heard something new from one of our old favorite's Lifelike. That is until I ran into this spectacular new remix he did for Paradis' "Toi Et Moi". Jesus Christ it is good! Full on 80's synthwave dancefloor deliciousness. I wanna be at a club playing this peak time on a Saturday night. Is that too much to ask?

Check out the goodness...

BONUS MATERIAL :: In addition to the Lifelike remix I spotted the official video for the original track "Toi Et Moi" by Paradis and it is phenomenal as well! More subdued/mid-tempo than the remix, but really lovely as well. Gonna have to look into these fellows. Check that out below.

Ladyhawke :: Wild Things

It had been awhile since I heard new music from New Zealand's Ladyhawke, an old time favorite of mine that I used to play out quite a bit in my DJ sets. Today I saw her new video for new single "Wild Things" and it reminded me how much I missed her brand of 80's inspired synthpop. Seems her new album Wild Things just came out last month and as I type this I am listening to it. So far, so good! Real polished record.

Check out her colorful roller rink video for "Wild Things" below, plus a couple additional tracks from her new album "A Love Song" and "Sweet Fascination". If you dig these and wanna grab the album, it's available on iTunes.

Heartracer :: Dream Girl

Got sent this really great track "Dream Girl" by Richmond, Virginia brother duo Heartracer. I am told they are obsessed with 80's culture/music, kinda like we are at OTR and it shows on this splendid subdued synthpop single. I will be pressing play on this one many, many times. You have been pre-warned, you may become addicted. Press play at your own peril.

If you like what you hear you can purchase the track on iTunes

Ivy Nations :: You Are The Centre of Me

Digging this New Order-esque track "You Are The Centre of Me" sent our way by Dublin indie band Ivy Nations. Catchy stuff with great vocals/lyrics + cool guitars & synths. What's not to love? They might have a future here... Check out the tune below and keep the music coming fellas.

Brave Shores

Toronto brother/sister duo Brave Shores sent us some of their tunes and I am digging the sounds! They've got a great uplifting indie pop style. Brightens my mood, so thought I'd share. That's what music's all about right? Sharing the good stuff.

Check out two of my favorite tunes from their soundcloud "More Like You" (current fave! so chill, #I'veseriouslylistenedtoitlike10timesalready), plus "Never Come Down" (get your dance on). In addition to the soundclouds here is their video for "Surf's Up" with some cool animations. All the tracks can can be found on their self titled EP that you can pick up on iTunes.

Glad to have you on our Radar.

Timecop 1983 :: My First Crush (Video)

One of my favorite tracks from the latest Timecop 1983 album Reflections "My First Crush" ft Trevor Something just got the video treatment. Really glad they picked this one, cause it's such an amazing track! I can hear this track over and over and I pretty much have, haha. It's dripping in 80's synths and nostalgia, while the lyrics and vocals by the amazing Trevor Something take you back to those first crush days. Pure heavenly bliss from the very first beat.

Check out the soundcloud/video for it below, and if you haven't already scored this album I suggest you do so, especially if you are a synth lover.

Reuben Wu (Ladytron) DJ Set Giveaway

Tomorrow, June 24th for the weekly Death's Door party at The Garret they are bringing Special Guest DJ Reuben Wu from Ladytron. Ladytron were one of the coolest bands in the early to mid 2000's. They helped usher the return of cool synths and sexy vocals to the dance floor. "Playgirl", "Destroy Everything You Touch", "Seventeen" and others were staple tracks that could be heard at all the indie parties around town from PopLife to Revolver and Spiderpussy. Lots of fine moments jamming to their grooves on the dance floor. Can't wait to meet him as I will be opening up the night with a DJ set as well. If you are a fan of the band and would like to attend the event comment below with an email where we can reach you. We will pick a winner tomorrow to attend for free along with a guest, on us! Good luck and see you there...

Chromeo :: White Women

Loving the new Chromeo album 'White Women' that was just released. It incorporates a bunch of different styles from pop, smooth rock, funk, disco with an 80's feel to it. I liken them to a modern day Hall & Oates. You can definitely tell they were influenced by bands like that. With this album they seem to have made a concerted effort to create carefully crafted sublime tracks that will stand the test of time. More so than their previous albums, which were good, but more straight up dance floor tracks. Good from beginning to the end, they are definitely hitting their groove with this one. Recommended!

Check out the video for first single "Jealous (I Ain't With It)", plus "Come Alive" ft Toro & Moi and "Over Your Shoulders" from the album, and a couple sweet remixes from long time OTR favorites Grum & The Magician.

Check out more on their soundcloud

Eons :: Stay (Premiere)

Off the Radar is happy to premiere the brand new Eons single "Stay". It is the follow-up to Eons first single "Destiny", released August 2013 that we posted here.

Here's the bands description for the new track...

"This new track features deep, shoegaze electronic melodies that blend lush synths with astral yearning. It is an ethereal electro-pop song that relays the universal feeling of a love slipping away."

Check out the tune via their soundcloud below and if you like what you hear they are offering the track as a Free Download for Valentine's Day. Happy love day for us! Enjoy!

Futurecop! :: Hopes, Dreams & Alienation

One of our favorite dream wave artists Manchester's Futurecop! which we've been covering for years are getting ready to release their new album 'Hopes Dreams & Alienation' this Friday, December the 13th. Heard a few tracks from it and I can already tell I am gonna love it! They have that 80's synth dance sound that I always try to incorporate into my DJ sets.

Check out a couple tracks/videos that will be featured on the album including an exclusive free download of an unreleased track "Manic Pixie Dream Girls" ft Patrick Baker here, and a teaser video for the album. Enjoy and be sure to grab this baby come Friday!

Pr0files :: Call Yourself a Lover

Really digging this chill electro-pop tune "Call Yourself a Lover" sent our way by new LA duo Pr0files, who are also a part of Baby Monster. I can hear this track over and over. Those sultry female vocals are really smooth. Seems the track has already reached #18 on Hype Machine, and I can see why. Their upcoming debut album will be called 'Jurrassic Technologie'. Be on the lookout for that. In the meantime this free tune should hold us up nicely. Welcome.

Owl Eyes :: Nightswim (Video) + Goldroom Remix

Australian artist Owl Eyes which Ray posted about earlier this year here has a great video for her track "Nightswim". The track, which shares the same name as her album, is one of those tracks that you just want to play on repeat. The song is very chill and definitely should be played during a night swim. Check that out below...

As a bonus here's also an excellent Goldroom remix for her track "Jewels & Sapphires".
