Luxxury :: What Do Ya Really Want?

Totally loving Luxxury's new track/video for "What Do Ya Really Want?" It is smoothness to the Nth power, and we can't get enough. Check out the goodness below...

John Mark Nelson

Another excellent artist I came across in that NPR SXSW playlist is John Mark Nelson from Minnesota. John's voice and music reminds me a whole of the band Travis. Any other Travis lovers out there? If so this guy will definitely be your cup of tea. Sublime and lovely contemporary pop music for adults.

His album I'm Not Afraid is out now. You can sample the tracks on his soundcloud and if you like what you hear you can buy it on his site.

Check out "I'll Give You More" which first caught my attention, plus another favorite "Control" and his video for "Dream Last Night" also from the album.

King

Ran into the silky smooth goodness of LA trio King the other day on NPR's best of SXSW Austin 100 playlist they put together every year. "The Greatest" was the tune I heard and I was blown away. Smooth on the level of Sade smoothness. Soo good! Three talented ladies. Apparently Stevie Wonder was in attendance at a recent concert and asked to collaborate. How amazing is that? Their debut album 'We Are King' is out now.

Check out their 8 bit video game inspired video for the "The Greatest" below, plus their latest video for new single "Carry On" which is excellent as well, and a wee bit trippy.

Purse Candy :: Bar Fight (Video)

Loving the Purse Candy album Visions of a Healed Kingdom, particularly the single "Bar Fight". I burned the hell out of that track, so I was pretty excited when I saw they had a video for it today. What a great video for this silky smooth electro-pop jam.

Check that out below, and check out our earlier post on them here.

Cassian :: Running (Plastic Plates Remix)

Another stunner I ran into, is this lovely remix by the amazing Plastic Plates for Cassian's "Running". Maybe I'm getting older, but I just love these type of grooves. I can listen to this bpm all day. Whether I'm getting work done, on the treadmill or opening up a room for a DJ set. Just lovely stuff. Check it out below...

Clanch :: Autumn (Candidat Remix)

Today has been one of the most gorgeous weather days in Miami all year! A perfect 60's and sunny all day. Days just don't get much more beautiful than today, especially when the rest of the country is freezing their butts off. Perfect weather for a nice jacket or sweater. Somehow this Candidat remix for Clanch's track "Autumn" seems like the perfect track for a day like today. Smooth, midtempo jam that just flows. You can groove to it all day as you handle your business.

Check out the goodness below, and if you like what you hear it's a straight up free download. No liking of any page or anything. Just a click and it's yours. Enjoy.

Wunder Wunder :: Midnight Hours (DWYR Remix)

Ran into this really cool remix DWYR did for Wunder Wunder's "Midnight Hours". Equal parts electronic, equal parts house = a winning combo! I can jam this at work, or use it to open up a room for a DJ set. Smooth vibes. Best part is they are offering the remix as a free download in exchange for a soundcloud follow. Done!

The Lovers Key :: Saturday Night (Elastic Bond Remix) :: Premiere!

What do you get when you get a bad ass South Florida band remixing another bad ass South Florida band? A bad ass remix of course! Check out this amazing remix Miami band Elastic Bond did for The Lovers Keys "Saturday Night". So smoooth, and they're letting us do the Premiere! We'll take it! Check out the goodness below...

Purse Candy :: Bar Fight

Talk about smooth... Check out this amazing jam "Bar Fight" (complete with a sax solo) sent our way by Portland's Purse Candy. It is from their upcoming debut album 'Visions of a Healed Kingdom' which comes out October 28th. I can put this track on a loop and play it over and over, in fact I've been doing just that. Can't wait to play this out in my DJ sets and check out the rest of their album. For now this track will hold us off nicely.

Check out "Bar Fight" via their soundcloud below, and if you like what you hear you can grab the mp3 on their bandcamp as a pay what you like option. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

The Magician :: Sunlight (Darius Remix)

Talk about smooth... The Darius remix for The Magician's new single "Sunlight" is as smooth as they come. While most remixers have been keeping the bpm up on this one, he did the complete opposite and slowed it down to perfection. So good! That plus it perfectly matches the dreary Miami weather we are having today. Enjoy!

Little Dragon :: Pretty Girls (Gold Fields Remix)

A friend of mine told me about this Gold Fields remix for Little Dragon's "Pretty Girls" a while ago, but I couldn't find the soundcloud for it. That is until today when I was searching for new music and bam there it was. Staring me in the face. Yay! Real smooth and downtempo remix that they are offering as a free download in exchange for your email. What's not to love? Best grab that sucker.

Tokyo Police Club - Hot Tonight (Togetherness Remix)

As I was in the middle of my addiction (looking for new music) I ran into this remix of Tokyo Police Club's "Hot Tonight" by Togetherness which is Nicky Paul and Ross Clark of St. Lucia. It literally stopped me in my tracks and had me posting this before I even finished my music search. Like the song says it is 'Hot Tonight'. Such a great remix. This will definitely be making into my DJ Sets, that is if I can figure out where to get it. Anyways check out the smooth sounds below.

Chromeo :: White Women

Loving the new Chromeo album 'White Women' that was just released. It incorporates a bunch of different styles from pop, smooth rock, funk, disco with an 80's feel to it. I liken them to a modern day Hall & Oates. You can definitely tell they were influenced by bands like that. With this album they seem to have made a concerted effort to create carefully crafted sublime tracks that will stand the test of time. More so than their previous albums, which were good, but more straight up dance floor tracks. Good from beginning to the end, they are definitely hitting their groove with this one. Recommended!

Check out the video for first single "Jealous (I Ain't With It)", plus "Come Alive" ft Toro & Moi and "Over Your Shoulders" from the album, and a couple sweet remixes from long time OTR favorites Grum & The Magician.

Check out more on their soundcloud

Kodiak Fur :: Selena

One of my favorite Miami bands Kodiak Fur has released a new single "Selena" and just like everything I've heard from them it is stellar! Smooth grooving jam that they also happen to be giving away as a free download?! Yes sir, best grab that sucker pronto. They will also be releasing their new EP Flowers later this month on February 25th. Cannot wait to check that out. I burned the hell out of their amazing self titled EP.

Walter Sobcek :: No Blue Skies

Our friends Parisian duo Walter Sobcek sent us their latest tune "No Blue Skies". A cover of a 1990 Lloyd Cole track. Once again another impressive, smooth groove tune that will be getting tons of plays from us at OTR. The track includes a video featuring footage from the cult classic film Summer Lovers, featuring a very young Darryl Hannah in some menage a trois action. Check those out below...

Alan Braxe :: Moments in Time (EP)

Scion is at it again! This time releasing a new EP Moments in Time by the amazing Alan Braxe. The EP features 4 new original tracks incl vocals on two of them by The Spimes, as well as remixes by heavyweights such as Gigamesh, Lifelike, Memory Tapes and more. Best part is they are offering entire collection for free in exchange for your email. Doesn't get any better than that!

Check out some of the originals via their soundcloud below and if you like what you hear you can download the entire package including the remixes via Scion's website here. Enjoy!

Elephant :: Skyscraper

Got sent this lovely track "Skyscraper" by London duo Elephant. Beautiful track with gorgeous female vocals that reminds me of the days of Nico and the Velvet Underground. Fans of theirs will find themselves falling in love with Elephant as well. 3 1/2 mins of pure pop bliss. Check it...

Lissi Dancefloor Disaster :: Try

The second of my melodic posts today is from someone who is no stranger to OTR, Lissi Dancefloor Disaster. We have championed this electronic pop duo for many years. They are getting ready to release their debut album 'Waves' on February the 27th. The first single to come out from the new album is the lovely "Try". The softest and prettiest track I've ever heard from them. Simply gorgeous tune! I will be pressing play many times on this one.

Can't wait to see what else is in store for us in that debut album, beautiful and fun things I am sure. For now check out the soundcloud/video for "Try".

Chris Malinchak :: So Good To Me

Chris Malinchak's "So Good to Me" is such a smooth track. This is the track that sets the most poignant part in a movie. You know the one, where the two main characters are having a good time at a club. The background noise is muted and all you hear is this sweet track setting the tone.

Sweet lawd, I think I just described all independent films. Either way, Malinchak's house music is well known around the scene. He was also a part of the group French Express. I hope you guys enjoy the tale and the track.

NO :: The Long Haul

NO is a band from Echo Park, Los Angeles. Their single "The Long Haul" from their EP Don't Worry, You'll Be Here Forever has a striking sound to something Interpol would come up with. The trio, sometimes quartet is currently touring Europe. They have shows in Barcelona tonight and in Madrid tomorrow. Let us know what you think.
