Echo and the Bunnymen :: Apples for Isaac

Post Punk legends Echo and the Bunnymen are getting ready to release new album Apples for Isaac on September the 18th. It is their first new album since 2014's Meteorites! The first single they've released from the new album 'Brussels is Haunted' is classic them, elegant and gorgeous. Got me excited to hear more.

Check out their animated video for 'Brussels is Haunted' below.

Boy Harsher :: Hard Beat

Big fan of darkwave synthpop band Boy Harsher for many years, play them out in my DJ Gigs all the time. Read the other day they are getting ready to release their major label debut album Get Mean on Atlantic Records September the 18th. The first taste from the new album 'Hard Beat' is classic them. Super dark and dancey synthpop deliciousness.

Check that out below then set a timer for September the 18th. Tick, tock...

Death Cab for Cutie :: I Built You a Tower

Speaking of indie legends Death Cab for Cutie recently announced the release of new album 'I Built a Tower' seeing the light of day June 5th. The first single they've released from it is called "Riptides" and it is classic Death Cab for Cutie! Ben Gibbard's voice still sounding as amazing as ever. We may never get a second Postal Service record, but it's good to know Death Cab is still chugging along after all these years and hopefully for many more to come. They will be touring to support the new album so be sure to check that out if it comes through your neck of the woods. They never disappoint live.

Here's their new video for "Riptides".

The Strokes :: Reality Awaits

Indie NYC legends The Strokes recently announced the arrival of new album 'Reality Awaits' landing June the 26th. It's their first new album since 2020's 'The New Abnormal'. The first taste we've gotten so far from it is new single "Going Shopping". Although I am not a huge fan of the auto-tune on the track I am a huge fan of The Strokes and am excited to see what else is in store for us in the album. They have also been busy performing at this years Coachella and planning a tour that will bring them to our neck of the woods in Hollywood at the Hard Rock Live on September the 13th! Might wanna look into getting some tickets for that!

Check out their new single "Going Shopping".

Peaches :: No Lube So Rude + Miami Show

Lo-fi electroclash artist Peaches is getting ready to release new album 'No Lube So Rude' on February the 20th. It's her first new album in over 10 years and seems not much has changed. She still pushes the envelope as much as she did over 20 years ago when she first hit the scene. I remember playing her classic track "Fuck the Pain Away" all those years ago and being nervous, will people like it? The answer was a resounding yes! It killed on the dance floor. We ended up bringing her down to play in Miami at the Polish American Club (there's a throwback) and I remember Iggy Pop showing up to see her perform as he was a big fan. That was pretty amazing!

She's released three tracks from the album so far "Not In Your Mouth None of Your Business", "Fuck Your Face" and the album title track "No Lube So Rude". Check out the video for "No Lube So Rude" below. Check out more on her youtube.

PS If you're in Miami Peaches will be performing at Zey Zey on the album release date February 20th with another amazing up and coming NYC electroclash band Model Actriz. If you're around you should definitely check that out!

Tycho & Paul Banks :: Boundary Rider

Heard this song today "Boundary Rider" on Sirius by Tycho & Paul Banks from Interpol and I loved it! I knew it was Paul, his voice is so distinctive. Seems it's been out a a few months released in October of 2025. Maybe if you're like me you may have missed it. Check out that goodness below.

PS Interpol is on tour and will be in Miami on March the 7th at the James L Knight Center. Tickets have been acquired. Can't wait for that. Maybe we will get some new music to go along with the tour? One can only hope.

Arctic Monkeys :: Opening Night

 Arctic Monkeys are back with their first new music in four years titled "Opening Night" which they did for the forthcoming War Child benefit compilation 'Help (2)' and it is excellent! The compilation will also feature new tracks from bands such as Depeche Mode, Wet Leg, Damon Albarn, Pulp, Beth Gibbons, Fontaines DC, Foals, The Last Dinner Party and many other amazing artists. Can't wait to hear that!

For now check out the first track from it below.

Father John Misty :: The Old Law + Tour

Father John Misty who we've been a fan of for quite some time has released new single "The Old Law" plus announced a tour of the US/Europe. If you happen to be in one of those fine cities be sure to grab yourself some tickets for the show. Sure it will be most excellent.

Check out that new track below, plus "Time Makes Fools of Us All" one of my favorite tracks from his 2024 album 'Mahashmashana'.

Morrissey :: Make-Up is a Lie

Morrissey who was a long time without a label and unable to release an album has recently signed with Sire records, his old label with The Smiths. Very soon after the announcement he released the title track "Make-Up is a Lie" with the album with the same name being set for release on March the 6th. The odd thing is his older album that was never released 'Bonfire of Teenagers' kinda got skipped over for this newer release. Maybe we will see the release of that one as well soon or maybe not for many years, we shall see.

For now check out the first single below with the surprised cover art of him which looks like will be the actual album artwork. Probably the moment he was told Sire signed him, haha.

Monterrey :: Make Me Feel (New Single/Video)

Miami electronic musician Monterrey is getting ready to release a new EP Elapse. Our first taste from the EP comes in the form of lead single "Make Me Feel". A loopy electronic pop tune that paints a minimalistic landscape soaked in colorful synths. As per Monterrey "The repetition in the vocals is key to the concept which is inspired by the crescendos of being in love. It is also the inner turmoil experienced by a computer attempting to assimilate to human emotion." Take your pick, or both, it can be both. The band will be performing Live Friday, June the 15th at Tigermilk, Miami's monthly Brit-Pop/Indie party held at Las Rosas. Can't wait to check out their set!

With no further ado check out Monterrey's new single/video for "Make You Feel".

BayRan :: Taps (Premiere)

We are happy to be premiering the new single "Taps" by Miami electronic artist BayRan. It's a great looping instrumental electronic track that we are digging!

We asked BayRan what this track is all about, and here is what he had to say ::

"Taps" is about the hypnotic redundancy that occurs at various points throughout our lives. By using short repetitions, I wanted to create a feeling that doesn’t necessarily evolve or change as expected. It was challenging to commit to certain elements, but I felt that there is a lack of self reflection and ambiguity in modern music. It might not be easily digested, but I really tried to instill a sense of anxiety and entranse the listener using traditional elements of songwriting in unconventional ways"

With no further ado check out that excellent new track "Taps" which he is giving away as a free download for OTR readers! Yes! Best grab that quick before he changes his mind.

Jaialai :: Chariot

Miami band Jaialai who we wrote about their excellent debut single "Pink Motion" last year here sent us their new single "Chariot". It's a cool shoegazey tune and it features a sweet 360' video for it. They recorded the song earlier this year with Carlos Imperatori (Fabulosos Cadillacs producer) and it features Didi Gutman from Brazilian Girls on keyboards. Lead singer Oscar tells us "The song is about finding happiness after being disillusioned". You know, shit most people can relate too.

Check out that video/tune below...

Rainsford :: Intentions ft Twin Shadow

Got sent this sweet indie pop tune by LA artist Rainsford called "Intentions" which features the amazing Twin Shadow sharing vocal duties with her in the choruses, and even a bit of a verse for himself as well. Great pop tune! She describes the song's inspiration as coming from being in a couple of relationships in the past were neither of them really knew what they wanted and were scared to truly speak their minds, leaving her wondering "what are your intentions?".

Check that out below...

The Presets :: Do What You Want

The Presets are back!! They just released new single "Do What You Want" yesterday on Halloween and it is classic high energy synth them. I remember seeing them play live in South Beach sometime in the 00's and they blew me away. So much energy! I kinda hope they push their comfort zone a bit on their hopefully soon to follow new album.

Franz Ferdinand :: Always Ascending

I know indie rock is dead, but I will always have a special place in my heart for Franz Ferdinand. I was obsessed with their self titled 2004 debut album which gave us the forever classic "Take Me Out" (which still works on the dance floor). I happy to report they are back! They just released new single "Always Ascending" from their upcoming album also titled Always Ascending being released February 9th 2018. It is everything I remember from Franz Ferdinand. Jangly guitars, catchy choruses, their lead singers amazing voice, but mainly just a whole lot of fun! You can find all those ingredients in first single "Always Ascending". Good to know they haven't lost it.

Lali Puna :: Two Windows

The amazing Lali Puna is back! Two Windows is their first new album since 2010's Our Inventions. I forgot how much I missed Lali Puna's gorgeous minimal electronic pop sound and lead singer Valerie's silky smooth voice. I can hear those bleeps and bloops with Valerie's beautiful melodies forever and a day. This new album is their best since 2001's Scary World Theory which is saying a-lot, because I LOVE Scary World Theory! This one's right up there with their best, and so many years into their career is very impressive. They have not lost a step.

Check out first single/video for "Deep Dream", plus their video for title track "Two Windows",  which if you like you should just run to get Two Windows. Sooo good!

Fever Ray :: To the Moon and Back

Oh, oh, oh, NEW FEVER RAY!!! It had been 8 long years since we heard new music from Fever Ray (aka) Karin Dreijer Andersson one half of electronic duo The Knife, and her excellent self titled debut album from 2009. Her new single "To The Moon and Back" is more Knife-like than anything we remember from her sparser debut album and reminds us how much we miss The Knife, but we also missed her and her unmistakeable voice. This new track has her talking about creamy kisses and rubbing her fingers up your pussy, plus the video for "To The Moon and Back" is super creepy! Straight out of a horror movie and just in time for Halloween. Can't wait to check out the upcoming album Plunge.

P.S. Since writing this post I heard the new album Plunge and it is fantastic! More Knife-ish than her debut. Go check it out!

Retrasoft :: Sun Daze (Premiere)

Miami's own Retrasoft just released a sexy vaporfunk track called "Sun Daze". It's got a great hypnotic grooving loop and some cool sampled vocals from an old japanese disco tune. Best part is he's letting OTR readers be the first ones to get a free download of the track! That's right, best grab that quick & press play... Stay in touch with him on insta or twitter. Happy Friday!!!

The Horrors :: V

Been a fan of London's The Horrors for many years. An amazing band that always seems to re-invent themselves from album to album. For their latest appropriately titled 5th album V they got a great new wave vibe going, especially for the first track that caught our attention "Something to Remember Me By". Then the rest of the album sucks you in. They incorporate many different tempos and styles. Some slow, some heavier like first single "Machine", but all excellent! Some of our other favorite tracks include : "Point of No Reply", "Weighed Down", and the majestic "It's a Good Life". Definitely their best and most accessible album to date! This should be making a splash on many best album lists for 2017 come December.

Check out the videos for"Something to Remember Me By" and "Machine" below, if you dig these we recommend you delve deeper into the beauty that is V.

Zoot Woman :: Solid Gold

Free new single by Zoot Woman?!?! Well if you twist my arm. Seriously, Zoot Woman is giving away their new single "Solid Gold" via their soundcloud. New album Absence is out June 16th.
