The Lovers Key :: Do You Still Think of Me? (Ursula 1000 Remix) Premiere

The Lovers Key are a new indie pop/soul duo from South Florida featuring Christopher Moll of The Postmarks fame and Maco Monthervil. They are getting ready to release their debut album 'Here Today Gone Tomorrow' April 1st on Room Records which will be available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.

Before that and to coincide with WMC this week in Miami, they got NYC's totally awesome Ursula 1000 to remix their track "Do You Still Think of Me?" into a dance jam which we are happy to premiere today on OTR!

Check out that remix below, as well as the album's opening track "Saturday Night" to get you acquainted with their excellent soulful sound. Then don't be an April Fool and grab this excellent release next week.  

The Walkmen :: Dance With Your Partner / Vermeer ’65

Where I live, the autumn season is really doing wacky things to me. I've been going bed earlier, relaxing on my porch, staring at the leaves, wearing hoodies, and feeling more nostalgic than ever.

It's the perfect sweater weather climate for these two new Walkmen tracks. I'll admit that I've had difficulty caring much for anything after their 2004 masterpiece, "Bows + Arrows." Their later releases have been solid but just a bit boring for my tastes. However, I've got to hand it to an indie rock band that stays in the game and releases consistently.

They've saved a couple gems from their last recording session for their upcoming fall tour. I prefer "Dance With Your Partner," with its classic Walkmen bipolar  mood swings. Quiet and tender moments that segue into upbeat waltz movements. "Vermeer '65" gets more of a standard indie rock, folk treatment. Great for chilly October nights.

I just have to mention that Hamilton Leithauser's vocals drive me crazy. I've loved this band from the moment I heard his voice piercing through a car commercial, years ago. It's nice that I can always rely on that guy to sing the same on every album. Instantly recognizable, familiar and always a little unsettling.

Reptile Youth :: Shooting Up Sunshine (Video Exclusive)

Got sent this great new video by Copenhagen band Reptile Youth for their new track "Shooting Up Sunshine". It's from their upcoming self titled debut album. Really catchy bubbly indie pop tune that I'm sure you guys are gonna dig. Having a pretty girl dancing in your video never hurts the situation. Check it out below, an OTR Exclusive!

Pony + Whatever/Whatever

Peter PONY Clement is a fixture in the NYC downtown nightlife and art scene as a DJ, songwriter, promoter, dancer, and performance artist. He originally came to study at F.I.T. but ended up crossing paths with producer/DJ duo Bryan Mette and Justin Strauss (Whatever/Whatever). Now, with PONY writing and performing the lyrics and Bryan and Justin on the boards they started work on a debut EP.

You can definitely hear the Whatever/Whatever influence on the single "Friction" and the vocals kind of remind me of a gothic Trouble Andrew. Can't wait to hear what this collaboration comes out with! Check out the single and Bryan Mette's remix under alter ego Carlton Bank$ below.

COSMO (Exclusive)

 

I previously posted a COSMO remix + original track feat Paul Isaac from People From Venus here. Earlier this week at the PFV CD Listening Party at Bardot I ran into COSMO (aka Brett Thorngren) and he gave me a CD featuring 3 New Tracks feat gorgeous vocal work by Joce Milanes that will be featured on his upcoming new album being released later this year. He gave me the go ahead to be the first blog to post his new tracks and I must say they are exquisite! Electro-pop gold! Seriously music doesn't get much catchier than this. Love, love, love them! Glad to be the first blog to post these as I feel he has a bright future ahead of him.

As a side-note Brett was one of the first DJ's I looked up to growing up in the Miami underground scene. Before words like Hipster, Indie or even Electroclash existed I used to frequent a bar called Mars Bar in a shopping mall in Kendall (if you can believe it) almost every Thursday. Along with other local DJ's like Danny Bled (The Church) they are some of the DJ's that most shaped who I am today as a DJ. For that I am forever grateful. As the saying goes 'Standing on the Shoulders of Giants'.
