Bella Luz :: Summer Breeze ft Maryell Epps

Miami's own Bella Luz is getting ready to release a new EP soon. They sent over the first track from it "Summer Breeze" ft Maryell Epps and it is excellent! A solid piece of dark synthpop deliciousness. Gil's vocals are on point and the beats by Jean Espiritusanto and pulsating synths are bumping, like totally jumping out of your speakers. Can't wait to play this out at one of the darker parties I DJ at. It will fit in perfectly.

Miss Kittin Returns!

Since it seems the early 2000's seems to be making a comeback lately (new Strokes album is pretty ace), it only makes sense that electroclash queen Miss Kittin who collaborated with The Hacker and Felix Da Housecat back in the day be a part of the party. Today she released a new EP Bassline featuring the tracks "Bassline", "Come into My House" and "I Don't Know How to Move" that will be featured in her upcoming double album Calling From the Stars out April 22nd.

Digging the new tracks that feature her trademark dark electronic dance sounds and sexy vocals. Forgot how much I missed hearing her voice. Hopefully some of these tracks will be making it back into the clubs these days, particularly those straying away from vocals. People still like those right?

Matthew Dear :: Her Fantasy

Ready for some new Matthew Dear?? I know I am. Really dug his dark 2010 masterpiece 'Black City' so been patiently waiting for his upcoming album 'Beams' which is scheduled for release August 27/28th. The first taste of the new record is first single "Her Fantasy" which is the opening track from the new album. Really tasty nugget that continues with his unique dark electronic dance groove that he does so well. Check out the track/video below, plus a free remix of the track by Poolside. The Voyeurist :: Hexed (EP)

The Voyeurist are a dark electronic pop duo from London. Their debut EP Hexed is just being released this month. Their reps sent along first track "Chase" which has a dark dancey goth sound that always appeals to me, kinda like Crystal Castles on their more melodic side. Zambri has previewed a new track via Filter Magazine for the April release of their full length "House of Baasa". I am so damn excited for this full length. Me and My Drummer :: You're a Runner

Got sent this dark minimal electronic pop track/video "You're a Runner" by new Berlin duo Me and My Drummer. Really great tune. Has a dark feel to it, but uplifting at the same time. Zambri

Zambri, who I wrote about last November, is releasing their debut EP "Glossolia" November 8th on Kanine records. Caught them play a show last week and now I find myself more captivated with their distorted yet rich dueling vocals and hypnotizing rhythms. The birds eye view Glasslands (music venue in Brooklyn) has to offer, left me overrun with anticipation for their record. Big Black Delta

Big Black Delta is the new project of multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Bates formerly of LA band Mellowdrone. Seems he has worked with the amazing M83 as a touring guitarist as well as provided vocals for their upcoming album. His reps sent his debut album for review as well as first single "Capsize" to give away from the album which is scheduled for release September 26th on Come Home Records. Great sounding slightly out of tune dark noisey pop fun. Really digging it. Maybe you will too? Listen/download "Capsize" below and if you dig it I'd be on the lookout for the album. Good stuff!

Great, I've come down with a cold, yippie! At least it happened on a Monday instead of the weekend when I work. Anyways I wanted to post a little something for you guys while I go through this formidable stack of emails waiting for me in my inbox.

You may remember Dutch electronic duo Mason that I posted about last year here. They are back with a great new single/video for "Little Angel" ft Aqualung. Great eerie stop motion video for this catchy track. That chorus is so good. Enjoy!

Autokratz :: Becoming the Wraith Video (ft Peter Hook)

New Autokratz video for "Becoming the Wraith" featuring Peter Hook of New Order/Joy Division fame? Hell yes! I never get tired of that dark electro-pop sound and Peter Hook's bass lines are amazing as always & instantly recognizable. Their second as yet untitled album is scheduled for release in June.

Stockholm band Torpedo that we posted their epic first single/video "Waiting for the Fall" here just released a more chilled out track from their upcoming April 27 debut album 'We' called "Islands in Eternity". Strangers

In keeping with the London theme of today here is another London band called Strangers that recently contacted us. They have a dark electro-pop sound and were influenced by a lot of the same bands that I was like Depeche Mode. They have a new EP called EP1 that is available on iTunes. They sent the soundcloud for the first track "In Chaos" that you can stream below. They've also sent us a Paper Crows remix of the track which is track #4 on the EP that has been cleared for posting. In addition here is their video for the track that was filmed using only 2 iPhones. Nice!

Torpedo :: Waiting for the Fall Video

Exciting Stockholm band Torpedo that I posted about previously here recently released their new video for their excellent track "Waiting for the Fall". In a world were 'epic' gets thrown out alot this is one that might actually deserve that description. Filled with great costumes, location sets and color palettes. It's like a scene from a post apocalyptic movie, Mad Max if you will. Can't wait for their debut album 'We' being released April 22nd.

Action Man League

Finland synth-pop act Action Man League recently contacted OTR and sent along a couple of their tracks "3/83" and their latest "This City is Mine" and I am loving them both! Great synth-pop reminiscent of bands that I grew up listening to from the 80's, but with a little modern edge as well. Love them! I think you guys will too! Both these tracks have been cleared for posting so you're gonna wanna download these babies pronto. Then be prepared to listen to them over and over and... (you get the picture). Enjoy!

Torpedo

Got sent this excellent track called "Waiting for the Fall" by exciting new Stockholm band Torpedo. The first single is scheduled for release Feb 14th, but OTR readers can get it now (yay!) via their soundcloud player below. They have a dark electro-pop sound which I am a sucker for. They've been called a mixture of Miike Snow and The Knife which I can see and since I'm such a fan of both those bands it got my attention real quick. Very interesting new band from the Stockholm area with so many cool artists. Their debut album is scheduled for release April 29th. Can't wait for that! In the meantime enjoy this first one.

Matthew Dear Returns

Ghostly International co-founder Matthew Dear is back with album #3 'Black City' being released this week August the 17th. It's his first new album since 2007's critically acclaimed 'Asa Breed'. I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but Pitchfork gave it a best music rating of 8.4 that you can read here. All the press/reviews I've read so far say it's his darkest most focused work to date, which considering the album title makes perfect sense and gets my interests going.

Ghostly sent over the first single from the album "Little People (Black City)" for us to post. With a dark pulsating disco beat and coming in at 9+ minutes it's pretty epic! Absolutely loving it!

Lettercamp

I came upon this delicious slice of electro-pop by Detroit based band Lettercamp, and it has kept my ears satisfied ever since. It's music for the naughty and nocturnal - precisely my kind of treat. If you're familiar with the band Friendly Foes, you'll recognize Liz Wittman's voice. This solo project of hers has allowed her to experiment within darker realms of music, and she can definitely hold her own. Lettercamp blends crisp synths, sharp riffs and harsh hooks to create a unique brand of dance pop. It doesn't disappoint. Lettercamp's new album, Raccoon Panda, is slated to be released on Five Three Dial Tone Records after September 18th, but you can pre-order here.

Another Black Season :: New Single

In keeping with the dark pop theme of today LA artist Another Black Season who I wrote about previously here are back with a fresh new single "Here in This Moment" along with an ultra sexy b-side "When I Hold You".  He was kind enough to send both tracks our way and they are excellent! Fans of bands like Depeche Mode, Wolfsheim or 80's synth-pop bands in general will love Another Black Season's sound, which basically means me, haha. I know there's a few more of you out there like me as well. About time for a resurgence of the good stuff. Keep it up brother!

Microfilm

Microfilm who had that amazing album 'Slingshot Orchestra' that I wrote about back in January are back with a New EP entitled 'International Velvet'.

The EP is stellar! It takes off right were Slingshot Orchestra left off. Dark electro-pop/industrial tunes. Bleeps, vocoders and crushing high hats abound. I have a feeling these boys grew out of a similar goth/industrial background that I did. If not they should have. This would have fit in perfectly at The Kitchen Club or The Church, a couple Goth clubs that I grew up with in my formative years in the early 90's.
