Bloc Party :: Anatomy of a Brief Romance

I remember playing Bloc Party so much in early 2000's during the indie heyday. 'Banquet' and 'Helicopter' are huge hits that will forever be associated with that era. They just released new album Anatomy of a Brief Romance and just like the title implies the songs are mainly about relationships that did NOT end well. Who can't relate to that? Kele's voice still sounds as fragile and amazing as ever.

The Avalanches :: No Bad Memory

Legendary Australian electronic act The Avalanches have announced their fourth studio album No Bad Memory being released October the 16th. I was obsessed with 2000's Since I Left You with all those amazing samples. Seems the new album is gonna have 31 tracks?! That is a lot of tracks for an album, but I have noticed all the tracks they've released so far are very short, plus I'm sure they will have plenty of sample snippets sprinkled throughout the album so that may be the reason for that. So far they've released some collabs they've done with Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Jamie XX. That's a pretty impressive start!

Fontaines D.C. :: Dopamine Chamber

Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. that I have loved since 2022's Skinty Fia recently announced new album Dopamine Chamber which is being released October the 16th. I keep hearing the new record will be more electronic / Depeche Mode like with less guitars. The first taste of the record first single 'Marianne' definitely supports this hypothesis without totally leaving behind their trademark style. It is sooo good! I cannot wait to hear this album from this band that only seems to be getting bigger with each passing year.

Genesis Owuso :: Human Again

Been into Australian artist Genesis Owuso for a few years now. He has such a great vibe. Recently he released new single 'Human Again' that is pretty much fire! Super poppy indie dance jam that will hook you in no time flat, that chorus with female vocals is oh so good.

Echo and the Bunnymen :: Apples for Isaac

Post Punk legends Echo and the Bunnymen are getting ready to release new album Apples for Isaac on September the 18th. It is their first new album since 2014's Meteorites! The first single they've released from the new album 'Brussels is Haunted' is classic them, elegant and gorgeous. Got me excited to hear more.

Yard Act :: You're Gonna Need A Little Music

UK indie band Yard Act just released their new album You're Gonna Need A Little Music July the 17th. Digging the record, particularly the title track. The lead singer's voice reminds me a bit of Jarvis Cocker and Leonard Cohen. They have that indie rock vibe of the early 2000's on lock.

Dry Cleaning :: Secret Love

London based band Dry Cleaning who I first heard about via their amazing track "Scratchcard Lanyard" about five years ago are back with album number three 'Secret Love'. It was just released this past Friday, January the 9th. Upon quick listen it seems like they continue with their trademark sound of post punk sounds whilst their lead singer Florence Shaw spouts off lyrics of her daily observations, which always makes for a cool combination.  

Seems they are putting out videos for all their tracks with fans dancing around in each of them. Check out a couple of those below including my current favorite track and album opener "Hit My Head All Day" , plus "Joy". If you like what you hear be sure to check out the rest of the album.

The Twilight Sad :: It's the Long Goodbye

Scottish band The Twilight Sad is getting ready to release new album 'It's The Long Goodbye' on March the 27th, 2026. Their sixth album and first new one since 2019's 'It Won't Be Like This All the Time'. The first two tracks they've released so far "Waiting for the Phone Call" and most recently "Designed to Lose" are absolute fire! They remind me of a mixture of early The Cure and Joy Division, but still with a powerful sound all their own. Robert Smith is a big fan having them open for them on a bunch of tours. Have a feeling this album will be in the running for best albums of 2026.

Monterrey :: Make Me Feel (New Single/Video)

Miami electronic musician Monterrey is getting ready to release a new EP Elapse. Our first taste from the EP comes in the form of lead single "Make Me Feel". A loopy electronic pop tune that paints a minimalistic landscape soaked in colorful synths. As per Monterrey "The repetition in the vocals is key to the concept which is inspired by the crescendos of being in love. It is also the inner turmoil experienced by a computer attempting to assimilate to human emotion." Take your pick, or both, it can be both. The band will be performing Live Friday, June the 15th at Tigermilk, Miami's monthly Brit-Pop/Indie party held at Las Rosas. Can't wait to check out their set!

Jaialai :: Chariot

Miami band Jaialai who we wrote about their excellent debut single "Pink Motion" last year here sent us their new single "Chariot". It's a cool shoegazey tune and it features a sweet 360' video for it. They recorded the song earlier this year with Carlos Imperatori (Fabulosos Cadillacs producer) and it features Didi Gutman from Brazilian Girls on keyboards. Lead singer Oscar tells us "The song is about finding happiness after being disillusioned". You know, shit most people can relate too.

Fever Ray :: To the Moon and Back

Oh, oh, oh, NEW FEVER RAY!!! It had been 8 long years since we heard new music from Fever Ray (aka) Karin Dreijer Andersson one half of electronic duo The Knife, and her excellent self titled debut album from 2009. Her new single "To The Moon and Back" is more Knife-like than anything we remember from her sparser debut album and reminds us how much we miss The Knife, but we also missed her and her unmistakeable voice. This new track has her talking about creamy kisses and rubbing her fingers up your pussy, plus the video for "To The Moon and Back" is super creepy! Straight out of a horror movie and just in time for Halloween. Can't wait to check out the upcoming album Plunge.

P.S. Since writing this post I heard the new album Plunge and it is fantastic! More Knife-ish than her debut. Go check it out!   

Tesla Boy :: Circles (Video)

Russian electro-pop act Tesla Boy who we are long time fans of sent us their new video for their track "Circles" off their latest EP Moses. It is confusing, weird and amazing all at the same time. It definitely has some great production value to it. Like a mini movie. Check that out below...

The Gift :: Love Without Violins ft Brian Eno

As I was listening to an NPR podcast today I ran into this new single by Portuguese band The Gift called "Love Without Violins" ft Brian Eno. Anything with Brian Eno's name attached to it instantly gets my attention and this song did not not disappoint, it blew me away! It starts out with these dark sinister synths/drums and deep dark vocals which at first I thought were Brian Eno's, but it turns out to be the vocals of Sonia Tavares, The Gift's lead vocalist. Then around the 2:43 min mark the track does a total flip and turns into a poppy melodic tune as Brian Eno's vocals come in. So good!

Seems like Flood of Depeche Mode fame mixed the track which further explains why I love this so. I mean Brian Eno + Flood = Heaven.

Ladyhawke :: Wild Things

It had been awhile since I heard new music from New Zealand's Ladyhawke, an old time favorite of mine that I used to play out quite a bit in my DJ sets. Today I saw her new video for new single "Wild Things" and it reminded me how much I missed her brand of 80's inspired synthpop. Seems her new album Wild Things just came out last month and as I type this I am listening to it. So far, so good! Real polished record.

James :: Dear John (Video)

My favorite track "Dear John" from the new James album Girl at the End of the World just got the video treatment and man is it good! An amazing animated clip for an amazing track! One of the most electronic tracks they've ever done. Check out the goodness.

The Strokes :: Threat of Joy (Video) + New EP

The Strokes (who I will forever love) have a new EP out called Future Present Past. They just released a video for the track "Threat of Joy" from the EP which is classic them and pretty entertaining.

Dim Sum :: High Love (Video) + To The Top

One of our favorite French duos Dim Sum sent us their new video for their excellent track "High Love" and the video matches the sweetness of the source material. A love story for the summer, a story of lost opportunities. Don't let it slip you by fellas. Check that out below...

In addition to the video they are giving away new track "To the Top" (for a soundcloud follow). It is a banging, ready for prime time instrumental disco jam that you might hear at a cool club/bar near you. I know it has already been added to my Rekordbox ;)

Moderat :: III

Digging the new album from the Modeselektor/Apparat collaboration Moderat entitled III. As the name implies it is their third release and it is a solid album, 9 tracks with zero filler. It's a great record that melds the world of electronic music and house music pretty seamlessly, and their vocals give the record a nice human touch. This one will be in heavy rotation at OTR over the next few months and will probably be on many top album lists once 2016 says goodbye. Plus how amazing is that album artwork?!

Metronomy :: Old Skool

New Metronomy = Happy Us!! Metronomy just dropped a bouncy/dancey new single called "Old Skool" from their forthcoming album Summer 08' which is being released July 1st. Really loving the track and their super 70's inspired/colorful video for it. Wes Anderson would be proud.
